Top Note Tote
We used the Sale-a-bration Delicate Dots DSP and coordinating Polka Dot Punches stamp set. Here's another version with different paper and stamp from the same sets:
Basically, it's two Top Notes (cut with the Big Shot), adhered (with sticky strip and SNAIL) to either side of a small white paper sack. I bought the sacks at Michael's a couple years ago and was going to make mini paper bag books, but I never got around to it. They are 3-1/4" x 2-1/4" x 6-1/2". I cut the top off the bag so it would be hidden behind the top notes. With the bag closed, I punched a handle with the large oval punch.
Supplies: Polka Dot Punches, Lovely Letters Alphabet, So Saffron ink & cardstock, Sahara Sand ink & cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Delicate Dots DSP, Scallop Circle Punch, Large Oval Punch, 5-Petal Flower Punch, SAB Ribbon Bundle, Organza Ribbon, Button Latte, Mini Glue Dots, Stampin' DimensionalsClick here to learn how you can get the Delicate Dots DSP, Polka Dot Punches stamp set, and/or Ribbon Bundle for FREE!

Birds of a Feather Sketch Together
I was too lazy to post last night and enjoyed vegging on the couch instead. But I have two cards for you today to make up for it! Beate is back with her Weekend Sketch Challenge and I gave it a go with my Owl Together Now stamp set. I wasn't totally thrilled with it, so I tried again with some So Tweet chipboard...

Summer Colors Card
I realized as I was finishing the card, that the circles should be 1" instead of 1-1/4" to be truer to the sketch. I think they almost take up too much of the card when they are bigger, like mine. Next time.... (Click here to check out the original sketch artist.)Friday, February 20, 2009

Polka Dot Flower Card & Blog Candy Winner
This 3" x 6" is one of my monthly stamp club projects and incorporates three of the Sale-a-bration gifts: The Polka Dot Punches stamp set, the Delicate Dots DSP, and the Ribbon Bundle. I love this simple layout. I CASEd it from a card I saw at a recent demonstrator meeting. (I think it was Lia... or maybe Donna?)
Which Sale-a-bration gift is your favorite? Click to vote for your favorite in my Sale-a-bration poll (over there on the left side of my blog). In addition to the Sale-a-bration products, we also used the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 Texturz plates for the Big Shot. Here's a close-up so you can see the Polka Dot texture on the Chocolate Chip square:
Oh! I just realized I didn't "draw" a winner for my 75K Blog Candy. So I hopped over to random.org to generate a random number...and the winner is #15:

Quiet Time Card
What a difference an hour makes! During lunch, I was ready to pull my hair out. The baby hadn't slept a wink all morning and was screaming, my 3-1/2 year old wouldn't eat lunch, and I was trying to get my 5 year old out the door to catch the bus. Oh yeah, and I was still in my PJ's! But an hour later, the house was quiet, the girls were sleeping, I was dressed and STAMPING! I sat down with Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge #42 and came up with this card:
I'm not terribly fond of this greeting, but I don't have any others this size. Most of my greeting stamps are small. Guess it's time to get some new ones. (wink!)Tuesday, February 17, 2009
Simple Sympathy Card
The background was made with the Watercolor Vine jumbo wheel. We rolled it several times to fill the card front with pattern. The stamping is simple in Mellow Moss and Always Artichoke (I love those greens together!) and I added some texture with the edge distresser tool from the Cutter Kit.Supplies: Thoughts and Prayers, Watercolor Vine Jumbo Wheel, Mellow Moss ink & cardstock, Always Artichoke ink & cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Cutter Kit

Peek-a-boo Valentine Treat
And "Peek-a-boo!" Here's the treat revealed on the inside:
As you can tell from the second photo, the heart is stuck to a "belly band" -- a thin piece of cardstock that wraps around the box. I recommend using sticky strip to adhere the ends of the band together. SNAIL isn't strong enough, and you may find it will fall apart.I love this heart from the Polka Dot Punches stamp set. It coordinates with the new Full Heart punch. And best of all, this stamp set is available as one of the free Sale-a-bration gifts when you place a $50 order or host a workshop. Click here for details.
The dimensions for the treat are 2-1/2" x 8-5/8". Score at 2-1/2", 2-7/8", 5-3/8", 5-3/4",8-1/4", 8-5/8". Punch the Full Heart in the last square and apply Sticky Strip to the very last 3/8" strip. (The photo here shows the strip flipped so that the end with sticky strip is at the right instead of the left. Also, I had to alter this image because I realized as I was getting ready to post that I punched the heart upside down. It appears correctly in the photo now, but I had to cut and paste it, so the shadows aren't natural.)
If you are holding the cardstock as pictured, you will fold the treat box back & under(away from you) so that strip A adheres to the other side of strip C. I hope this all makes sense. It's really not as complicated as I'm making it seem!Sunday, February 15, 2009

Happy Heart Day Projects
The kids had their Valentine's Day parties at their respective preschools today. We worked on valentines for their classmates all week long. I love the way they turned out!
(The red ones are Thomas' and the purple ones are Claire's.) First, I stamped the elephant in Basic Black on a 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" piece of Whisper White. The kids colored them in with crayons. Then I used the Crop-a-Dile to punch holes for the suckers while they colored/stamped/stickered/signed the colored pieces (which were 2-3/4" x 3-3/4"). I threaded the suckers and then used Tombow Multi adhesive to stick them together. Here's a close-up of the one I did. (The crayons are Crayola!)
And since I'm running out of time to post these, here are a couple more Valentine's Day Projects with this Happy Heart Day stamp set.
Click here for the Pillow Box pattern. It's much larger than the Big Shot die. For this project, I cut off one end of the pillow box to fit the bag of candy.

Stinky Sweet Card
I pulled this card out of the archives to post this week anyway and it just so happens to work perfectly for Kristina Werner's Color Inspiration Challenge! I love the combination of black, white, and red! For this card, I stamped the skunk in Whisper White ink on Basic Black cardstock and colored in his stripe with a white gel pen.

Blue Bird Card
Kristina Werner's latest Color Inspiration Challenge inspired me to get out my Good Friend stamp set. That's the one with the big bird. It's a fun stamp set, but I find it hard to use the entire bird without taking up a whole card. So for this 3" x 6" card, I ended up cutting off his tail end.

ISO Blog Winner
I'll give Lee Ann another week, and then I'll repost the Blog Candy and pick a new winner.
Echoes of Kindness Card
This card incorporates two fun new toys...I mean tools. We used the Circle Scissor Plus to cut the two circles and the Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 Texturz plates for the Big Shot to make the embossed background.I love the way the flower turned out. We stamped it in Versamark and then brushed the Stampin' Pastels with a Q-tip. Then, we stamped the greeting over it in Chocolate Chip. I love the gentle line drawing of this hostess set, Echoes of Kindness. I can't wait to play some more!

Circle Scissor Plus Tips
The Circle Scissor Plus (Item #112530, $29.95) is a fun tool designed to make circles as small as 1" or as large as 6". The black dial in the middle of the tool rotates to change the size of the circle, and thus, the location of the blade. I had a hard time figuring out where to position my cardstock or photo underneath the tool to get the cut that I wanted. I remembered a tip someone shared about the Coluzzle and broke out my colored Sharpie markers. I turned the cutter over and colored the grooves different colors. This allowed me to more easily see the complete circle and position the cutter on my cardstock accordingly.
Speaking of the cardstock, the cardstock/photo will slide around on the Glass Mat (#112531, $19.95). This is not ideal, so make sure to secure it down with some Dotto (removable) adhesive (#103305, $12.95). The Glass Mat is sold separately and a lot of people asked me why it was necessary to use this mat opposed to other mats (like our "self-healing" Cutting Mat, Item #101087, $15.95). The Circle Scissor Plus works best with the Glass Mat because it allows the blade to glide around the cardstock for a smooth cut. Whereas, the blade would get caught up and not cut smoothly on the other surfaces. Don't worry; the blade does not nick or cut the glass. So, you need to secure that cardstock down, but you also need to make sure and hold the cutter firmly in place when you rotate the blade and cut your circle. If the cutter slides, even just a hair while you're cutting, your circle won't be smooth and complete.
It takes a little bit of practice to get the hang of this tool, but it has a lot of potential and I've enjoyed playing with it so far. Here is one of the cards I had on display. I CASEd this card from the Spring-Summer 2009 Catalog (page 42) and changed just the colors a little bit.
Here's a side view of the card so you can see some of the dimension. You'll notice the blue border around the boat is not a layer underneath, it's actually a circle frame cut with the Circle Scissor Plus. It's one of my favorite tricks with this tool. The key is to cut the smaller circle first; then, without moving it, adjust the circle size to be slightly larger and cut again.
Supplies: Boatloads of Love, Very Vanilla cardstock, Baja Breeze ink & cardstock, Not Quite Navy ink & cardstock, Certainly Celery ink & cardstock, Sahara Sand ink, Blender Pens, Circle Scissor Plus & Glass Mat, Stampin' Up! Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates for the Big Shot, Rose Red grosgrain ribbon, Mini Glue DotsOne final note, the Coluzzle Circle Cutting System is being discontinued (boo hoo!). The manufacturer is no longer making it. The refill blades have already sold out and the Coluzzle Starter Set (#102264, $19.95) is only available while supplies last.
