Smiling Pumpkins Need Makeover

Last night I was stamping with my new Twick of Tweet set -- a cute little Halloween stamp set form the Holiday Mini catalog. I'm trying to design a card for our demonstrator card swap. I got started with one idea, but I feel like it's missing something. I just can't put my finger on what else it needs.

Help me makeover this card! Leave me a comment and let me know what you think should be added or changed to make this card better. I'll work on it some more and post a final version later this week.

Finished card size is 3-1/2" x 5".

Supplies: Twick of Tweet, Whisper White cardstock, Jet Black Staz-On ink, Old Olive marker & cardstock, Pumpkin Pie marker, Top Note Die for the Big Shot, 1/4" Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Cast-a-Spell DSP

  1. Hi Julie, how are you???

How about if you do the Top Note in two layers? Do one more Top Note in black, then trim the white piece on the dotted line. That way it kind of frames and sets off the white pumpkin piece?

    LOVE this card~~

  2. How about 2 black brads horizontal on the right edge of the card above the orange strip?

  3. maybe a smaller background for the pumpkins. Just too much white empty space. Otherwise, love the colors and that stamp is too cute! :)

  4. Personally, I love it the way it is... but I love things to be very simple.

  5. Perhaps a bit of ribbon would finish it off.

  6. There needs to be a second Top Notes color behind the white... say black to make your image pop... ribbon NEVER hurts either {wink}

  8. The card looks good! However, how about adding buttons in Halloween colors by various sizes. Why are we so critical of our work?

  9. This is such a cute card! I would suggest some brads to finish it off.

  10. I think it's cute as is, but maybe add a button tied with twine or raffia on the green stripe.

  12. I personally think it is cute as is and don't think you would have to change anything. If you wanted to add something then maybe some brads on the top note somewhere? HTH, like I said I like it-cute card!!

  13. Just accent the top note "stitching" with a stamp'n write marker...green or orange. It'll ground that big white piece.

  16. Maybe an eyelet at the point of the big shot? Really like the card...more than likely it'll become a Christmas card in my upcoming card class!

  17. I think the top note would be cute accented in a darker color behind and maybe some cut out stamped spiders tied in twine as an added accent.

  18. I always think every card I make could be better with glitter! :) Maybe some on the stars on the hat, or on the pumpkin's face. Very cute card and layout though!

  19. I love the layout and think its very cute as you posted it. If you wanted to add something, I might use the b/w dsp from the night and day pk for the topnote.....the one with the printing and maybe sponge the edges lightly.

  20. How about a little sponging around the edges of the top note die- I really like it as it is but YOU must be satisfied with it
