Every month at my demonstrator meetings, we make a new technique card. It's a quarter sheet size and goes on a big binder ring for easy reference. This month, the technique was called "Impressionistic Stamping". It was something I had never tried before until we made the card at the meeting. The new Watercolor Trio stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog is so perfect for this technique. Here are a couple cards I made over the weekend:
Here's a close-up of the flower:
Supplies: Watercolor Trio, French Script (retired) Background, Perfect Plum ink & cardstock, Always Artichoke ink & cardstock, Pale Plum cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, 1-1/4" Square Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals
Impressionistic Stamping: Wet cardstock with water using an Aquapainter or mist bottle. Stamp once or twice with Classic ink or markers. Allow cardstock to dry. Stamp once again over the previous “watercolored” image.
On the first card, I actually stamped the first time on dry cardstock and then sprayed the cardstock with water and got a lot more spreading of the ink. Also, I used Whisper White cardstock on my cards. The Watercolor Paper would be an excellent choice as it's designed to accept and work better with such much water.

ReplyDeleteI really love this technique! I'm sure other stamps work just as well, but I was compelled to use the watercolor trio, just as you had used. I love the look this technique provides and can't wait to share it!
