Faux Iris Twist Quilted Valentine Cards

I learned the Iris Twist technique several years ago. I love the look, but wanted a more simple version that wasn't so bulky. So I used short, small strips of DSP instead of longer, folded pieces. And instead of using a template, I just alternated the sides of the paper and free-handed the placement. Since I faked my way through the traditional Iris Twist, I'm calling this "Faux Iris Twist". It's also kind of quilt-looking, so you could probably also call it "Faux Quilted".

My first one was horizontal, but then Jan turned hers vertical in Stamp Club and I can't decide which one I like best. What do you think? Leave me a comment and let me know.

  2. What a cute idea to simplify the iris card. The quilter in me LOVES it! To combine two of my favorite hobbies...that's exciting!

I hate to play favorites, but I think I like the horizontal card a bit more!

  4. I think I like the horizontal version. One more way to use our great punches! How wide did you cut the paper? This is also a great way to use scraps of DSP we never throw away!! TFS
