Holiday Catalog Sneak Peeks: Control Freaks Blog Tour

Are you ready for some sneak peeks!? I'm so excited to participate in this month's Control Freaks Blog tour because we are showcasing projects featuring the 2015 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog products! Whether you came from Judy DiScipio's blog or you are just joining the fun, you're in for a treat! Make sure to hop all the through the tour to check out what we've created with all the great new products that will be available in a couple weeks! (The 2015 Holiday Catalog starts September 1, 2015.)

I have heard from many of you that the Holiday Catalog is starting to arrive in the mail. If you are a customer of mine who has ordered in the last year or two, you should receive a copy in the mail! If you are not already shopping with another demonstrator and would like to receive a copy of the catalog, please contact me!

It seems a little early still to be working on Christmas (it IS only August!), so I thought I'd share some Halloween cards with you this time. I usually don't buy Halloween stamp sets since it is such a short season, but I couldn't resist playing with some of my mom's pre-order stamps when I was there earlier this month. I wasn't sure what to do with all the bottles of poison in this stamp set, but I'm pleased with the way the card turned out.

To get the whispy white threads, I pulled apart the Whisper White Baker's Twine and added it behind the tag.

The Among the Branches stamp set is more my speed. I love that it includes stamps that can be used for multiple seasons and holidays. And it is available as a bundle with the Woodland Embossing Folder. (Yay for saving money!)  I adore the Woodland embossing folder! The trees can be serene for Christmas or spooky for Halloween. I embossed on Smoky Slate cardstock and then used a Sponge Dauber to add some ink over the trees to highlight them and make them stand out a little more.

Stampin' Up! Supplies: Among the Branches, Basic Black Archival ink & cardstock, Smoky Slate ink & cardstock, Pumpkin Pie ink, Whisper White cardstock, Black Glimmer Paper, Happy Haunting Designer Paper, 2" Circle Punch, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Woodland Embossing Folder, Sponge Dauber

I used the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch to create the starburst shape under the "Spooky" stamp. I love this simple trick. Here's how:
  1. Punch a Scallop Circle.
  2. Use removable adhesive or just a small bit of adhesive to adhere the scallop circle punch to a piece of scrap paper. (Or use a sticky note!)
  3. Line up the scallops so the point falls in the middle of each scallop.
  4. Punch again and remove from scrap paper.

That's all I have for you today! Be sure to come back and visit me again for more sneak peeks from the new Holiday Catalog! For now, it's time to continue on with the tour and head over to see what awesomeness Patty Bennett has in store for you!
