The technique is fairly simple in concept:
- Stamp a design on a piece of neutral color cardstock.
- Die cut a shape or word (using the Large Letter dies) from the stamped cardstock. Be sure to keep EVERY little piece that comes out!
- Assemble the card and reattach the letters and negative pieces back in place, using extra layers or Stampin' Dimensionals behind the letters to make them pop out.
Shirley demonstrated the technique the way she learned it -- by
die-cutting several layers on each letter to stack underneath. The Foam
Adhesive Strips also work great for creating that dimension! If you set
the letter just slightly off center from the die cut hole, you can see a
little of the dark cardstock around the edges of the letters to get
that "eclipse" look.
You don't have to only use the Large Letter dies! Play around with out shapes, like this square frame! Or try a punch!
