November 2020 Jolly Gingerbread Paper Pumpkin Projects + Video

It's been a busy couple weeks since my Paper Pumpkin kit arrived and I finally got a chance to sit and play.

Even though the projects are professionally designed and ready to complete, I always love the challenge of using the kit pieces in different ways to create alternative projects. Here's what I came up with the November 2020 Jolly Gingerbread kit:

The kit was designed to make 15 gift card holders -- flat gingerbread house-shaped pockets. I use the house pieces and added some additional cardstock to turn the pockets into boxes! I made two versions: one that uses two pockets and one that uses one for a smaller box.

The first box was inspired by one that I saw Paper Pumpkin create. Most of the box is created by combining two gingerbread house sleeves together. I added a cardstock box base so that I could put a gift inside. Measurements: 3-3/8" x 3-3/8" Cinnamon Cider cardstock, scored at 1/2" from every side. Fold on the score lines. On opposite sides, cut the score lines to the perpendicular score line and fold in to form the box base.

For the second box, I used just one gingerbread house sleeve and cut it in half. Then I created a box base and put the house pieces on the front and back of the box. Measurements:

I also cut apart the gingerbread house sleeves and used them on cards. As always, I cut apart the included envelopes to get some extra patterned paper to incorporate on the cards. What do you think of yellow for Christmas?

For this one, I used the front of the envelope and turned the house upside down to be a tag. Does it work? Or does it just look like an upside house? I used the extra gingerbread house stamp and embossed the image in white. I love the way it pops against the Cinnamon Cider.

Here are three versions of the same card layout. I thinking stamping on the white die cut is a little busy, so I tried stamping in Cinnamon Cider directly on the house. I cut out the candy around the door from the die cut and adhered it on to the house. In the third version, I switched out the Cinnamon Cider ink for Versamark and white embossing powder. Which one do you like best? Leave a comment and let me know!

On all three of the cards above, I used the Winter Snow Embossing Folder. It is my favorite new embossing folder and I'm so sad that it's already retiring! If you don't have it yet, you can get it for 50% off as one of the Year-End Closeout Deals! See all the Deals | Shop Now

Here's another card that I used mostly pieces from the kit and just added two pieces of cardstock.

I used the scroll stamp that goes around the door to create the frame for this card. The sentiment is from the Butterfly Gala stamp set.
