10 July 2023 Fun in the Sun Alternative Paper Pumpkin Cards + VIDEO

You can pull it out when you need a quick project and don't have time to design it yourself! This project kit subscription service from Stampin' Up! offers professionally designed projects every month! The July 2023 kit, Fun in the Sun, included the materials to make 9 fun fold cards -- 3 each of 3 designs.

I love making my kit stretch even further, so I used some additional cardstock to create 15 cards (duplicates of some designs).  I cut apart the card bases and used the die cut pieces to create these clean and simple summer cards. 

I used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the front layer of these cards (above and below).

I used the same pieces to create the card above and below and changed the orientation. Which way do you prefer it -- portrait or landscape? Leave a comment and let me know!

This one is my favorite! I used the sun stamp in the Fun in the Sun kit to stamp a border down the left side of the card.

I added an embossed layer of Pool Party cardstock to the die cuts in the Paper Pumpkin to make this card. This new embossing folder is coming out in the Sept-Dec 2023 Mini Catalog and is part of a pair called Cheery Patterns.

I ran out of crabs, so I used a simple stamped sentiment on the last two cards

Stampin' Up! Masterfully Made Card + Technique Video

When I first started as a demonstrator over 20 years ago, the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog was called the "Idea Book & Catalog". Even though the name has changed, the catalog is still an "idea book" that includes hundreds of project ideas featuring at least one sample for every stamp set. These projects are intended to inspire stampers around the world and I often look to these ideas. Sometimes I copy cards exactly as they are pictured, but often, I take the layout, color combination, or technique and make it my own. It's called CASEing -- Copy And Selectively Editing. Here is my version of a project from the 2023-2024 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.

TECHNIQUE TIP: White-Center Specialty Paper

Normally, when you tear Stampin' Up! cardstock, you will see the same color because Stampin' Up! cardstock is dyed. That's the difference between the regular cardstock and the new White Center Specialty Paper (161748) -- the color on the sepcialty paper is printed on the paper. So when you tear the White Center Specialty Paper, you'll see -- you guessed it -- WHITE!

This paper coordinates with the Masterfully Made Designer Paper (161192), which features torn cardstock and designer -- and lots of white edges!

Try this technique! Emboss the White Center Specialty Paper with your favorite embossing folder and then use sand paper to gently sand the printed color and reveal the white paper.

Stampin' Up! Fresh as a Daisy Suite: Cheerful Daisies Birthday Card

One of my new favorite color combinations is Moody Mauve and Bubble Bath -- two new colors from the 2023-2025 In Color and Subtle Color Collections respectively. I don't think that I would have put these colors together if it wasn't for the Fresh as a Daisy Designer Paper. This new paper pack in the Annual Catalog features all of the new In Colors. Here is one of the first cards that I created using the same color combination to stamp the flowers from the Cheerful Daisies bundle.
