It finally feels like spring this Monday morning in central Illinois. The birds are singing; the sun is shining. It's going to be a beautiful day! Spring is a fresh start. And it in that spirit, I'm excited to introduce a new series on my blog: Makeover Monday. I'm teaming up with my friend Jen Davidson again to share some simple tips for making over your stamped creations. Click here to check out some other card makeovers that Jen and I created.
Before
I like the layout that Jen used for this card, but I felt like the designer paper was too busy. The stamped images feel lost and the card kind of looks washed out. I kept the same layout for my card, but shortened the panels just a little so you could see more of the base card color. (The panels on the "after" card are 3-3/4" x 1-1/8".) I limited the busy pattern to one panel and introduced more colors from the designer paper: Coastal Cabana, Hello Honey, and Calypso Coral. I stamped each image in the same color as the cardstock panels to make them pop.
After
Stampin' Up! Supplies: Amazing Birthday stamp set, Calypso Coral ink & cardstock, Hello Honey ink & cardstock, Coastal Cabana ink & cardstock, Soft Suede cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Best Year Ever Designer Paper (SAB), 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Stampin' Dimensionals
I saved my favorite for last! Here is the third video tutorial in my mini series of watercoloring tutorials with the Stampin' Up! Moon Lake stamp set. (Watch the first video and the second video.) Besides the watercoloring, this card is pretty simple. I love the touch of Jute Ribbon on each side. It's just the right touch to finish off this card.
In the video tutorial, I colored all over the boat. However, I really like the way it turned out in the picture above, where I left a light spot in the middle and only shaded the very end and the bottom. Watercoloring never looks the same twice, so play around and see how you like it. Watch my video tutorial to to see how I used an Aqua Painter and ink pads to watercolor the image.

I really love the For Being You stamp set! There's so many ways to fill those big letters. See more ideas here. I've used markers to color them, paper pieced cardstock and designer paper, and for this card, I stamped on washi tape!
I used the Retro Fresh washi tape, one of the Sale-a-bration options from the Annual Catalog. So if you already have the other Sale-a-bration gifts you want, you can choose this washi tape for free when you order $50 or more before the end of Sale-A-Bration (Tuesday, March 31, 2015). Learn More

Here is the second video tutorial in my watercoloring series. This week, I'm showing you how to color the images for the cards in my Stamp of the Month Club kit for March featuring the Moon Lake stamp set from the 2015 Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog.
Watch my video tutorial to find out why I cut my stamp apart and watch me use an Aqua Painter and ink pads to watercolor the image.

I am featuring the new Moon Lake stamp set from the 2015 Occasions Catalog for my March Stamp of the Month Club. I spent hours (literally!) deciding what colors to use and how to color these beautiful line art images. I did the hard part and now I've got everything figured out so you can enjoy this month's card kit. All you have to do is stamp and watercolor! I've filmed a video for each of the three cards in this month's kit, so you can follow along and watercolor with me at home! Here's the first card.
Watch my video tutorial to see how I used the Aqua Painters and ink pads to watercolor this image.

Check out these video tutorials from Stampin' Up! I love the ideas for coloring the Sale-a-bration specialty papers! In this first video, they used the same basic layout to create two totally different cards!
And this watercolor wash is so pretty! I just used my Aqua Painters to watercolor images from the Moon Lake stamp set for my March Stamp of the Month club projects. (Watch of my watercoloring videos in the next couple days!)
Did you see that there are even more gift choices for the last two weeks of Sale-a-bration? Stampin' Up! added a few items from the Annual Catalog that you can pick from since the Blendabilities were discontinued. See the extra choices here. I used the Tag a Bag Accessory kit on this card. This was a free gift I gave to my customers last month with their make and take kits when they ordered $40 or more in my Online Store. (Learn about Stamp Club AT HOME.)
I trimmed down the tag a little to make it more narrow and stamped the greeting on the smaller tag. Easy peasy! The Coastal Cabana strip is washi tape that comes in the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit!
