Mixing Old with New: Love & Affection with Lovely Words Thinlits

A couple weeks ago...actually, probably closer to a month now...I was enjoying some stamp therapy and decided to make some cards for the Global Design Challenge. I didn't get a chance to post the cards before the deadline, but here they are! The challenge was to use any combination of the retiring In Colors: Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe, and Delightful Dijon. 

 

I pulled out the retiring Affectionately Yours designer paper as my inspiration and picked my colors from the paper. At the time, my pre-order was sitting unopened, so I broke out the Lovely Words framelits to create the peekaboo on this "friends" card. It only cuts the words and creates a window in the cardstock. So cool! Here is the inside corner that peeks through the front.

 Here is the second card. I have used a similar layout before. It's a good "go-to" design! The Affectionately Yours Designer Paper is already sold out, but the stamp set is still available! Be sure to get your last retiring order in before May 31 because the new catalog is right around the corner!
