Halloween Treats

Happy Halloween! I was inspired by my fellow demonstrators last weekend at the retreat, many of whom were working on Halloween treats. I came up with this quick treat for a workshop I held earlier this week and then gave my samples to my own kiddos this morning for Halloween.

It's hard to see in the photo, but there's a little bag of candy corn glued to the inside. I used the Petal Card die for the wrap, and cut off the top and bottom "petals". (Thanks for the inspiration, Meg!)

Supplies: Twick of Tweet, Jet Black Staz-On, Whisper White cardstock, Summer Sun marker & cardstock, Pumpkin Pie marker & cardstock, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Petal Card die for the Big Shot, 1/4" Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals

Upsy Daisy Duo

I was cutting Scallop Squares with my clear die and missed the edge of two of them, so I turned them in to cards. I embossed the Upsy Daisy in White and used coordinating paper from the Thoroughly Modern DSP. Which one do you like better?

Supplies: Upsy Daisy, A Little Birthday Cheer, Rose Red ink & cardstock, Bermuda Bay ink & cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Versamark ink, Thoroughly Modern DSP, White Embossing Powder, Clips Assortment, Modern Label Punch, 1/4" Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon, Scallop Square die for the Big Shot

Here's another baby card for another fellow demonstrator. One of my downline, Becca, had a baby girl earlier this month. Congratulations, Becca! I used the Thoroughly Modern paper again for this baby card:

Supplies: Everything Nice, Rose Red marker & cardstock, Bermuda Bay marker, Sahara Sand cardstock, Soft Suede marker & cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Thoroughly Modern DSP, Heart to Heart Punch, 1/4" Whisper White grosgrain ribbon

Baby Card & Update

Sorry for the blog silence again. I went to a demonstrator retreat this weekend and enjoyed relaxing and catching up on stamping, sleeping, and visiting with my fellow demonstrators. I have LOTS of projects to share with you, but I didn't get a chance to take pictures of them until late last night.

My morning (-noon-and-night) sickness has gotten better, though it hasn't completely gone away. And I'm still soooo tired. Especially after taking care of my sick kiddos this past week. I'm been catching zzzz's when I can, including short naps on the couch while Ms E is napping. I also found out that I'm not as far along as I thought, so I'm still not quite through my first trimester.

Anyway, I just finished editing all my photos, so I'm ready to share new projects every day for the next couple weeks. So keep checking back! And thanks for sticking with me! Maybe we should do some welcome back blog candy...what do you think?

Here's a card I made for my demonstrator friend, Katrina. I just found out this weekend that she had another baby. I didn't even know she was expecting! Congratulations, Katrina! Happy Baby Boy!

Supplies: Beautiful Baby, Best Wishes & More (heart), Bermuda Bay marker & cardstock, Soft Suede marker & cardstock, Sahara Sand marker & cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Thoroughly Modern DSP, 1/4" Whisper White grosgrain ribbon

Free Standing Pop Up Card Tutorial

I am bringing this card to the retreat with me this weekend to demonstrate. It was also one of my stamp club projects this month. I originally saw the Free Standing Pop Up Card a few years ago. Click here for the Free Standing Pop Up Card Tutorial. I didn't write the tutorial. It was passed on to me by another demonstrator back in 2006, but I don't know who the original tutorial author was. Sorry I can't give credit where it is due. If you know who wrote this, please let me know so I can give proper attribution.

Here's my version of the Free Standing Pop Up Card:

What I love about this card is that it folds flat to mail and fits in a standard Medium size envelope!

Supplies: True Friend, Pumpkin Pie ink & cardstock, Chocolate Chip marker & cardstock, Old Olive marker & cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Earth Elements brads, Neutral Jumbo Brads, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, 1/16" Hole Punch, Sticky Strip, Paper Cutter with Scoring Blade

Shimmer Snowflake Card

I'm packing up for our downline retreat this weekend. I can't wait to catch up on stamping (and sleep!) I hope to have lots of new projects to share with you when I get back. In the meantime, here's Christmas card we made at our dowline meeting earlier this month. We used Sponge Daubers to apply to shimmer paint directly to the stamps. It's hard to see the metallic in the picture, but it's so pretty in person!

Supplies: Serene Snowflakes, Four the Holidays, Bashful Blue ink & cardstock, Brilliant Blue ink & cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Platinum Shimmer Paint, White Taffeta Ribbon, Sponge Daubers, Scallop Edge Punch

(The boxes are coated and food-safe!)

Supplies: Sweet Season, Chocolate Chip ink, Real Red cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Old Olive cardstock, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, 1/16" Hole Punch, Clear Rhinestone Brads, Linen Thread, Red Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon

Happy Halloween Card

Today we took the kids to the pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins. The weather was perfect. And there was (almost) not a single cloud in the sky! It will be at least a week or so before we do any jack-0-latern carving, but I thought I'd post this Halloween card I made with the Autumn Harvest stamp set in honor of our pun'kin picking.

Supplies: Autumn Harvest, Happy Everything, Everyday Flexible Phrases (retired), Jet Black Staz-On, Really Rust ink & cardstock, Old Olive ink & cardstock, Basic Black marker, Very Vanilla cardstock, Color Spritzer Tool, Aqua Painter, Natural Hemp Twine

From Owl of Us Magic Card

Here is my very last Magic Card. I hope you have enjoyed the Magic Card samples this week and that they have inspired you to try the Magic Card for yourself. Click here for my Magic Card Tutorial for the instructions.

This card is a little unfinished. I couldn't decide what to do with the front, so I left it plain. It really needs some texture though. Wish I would have stamped it with a cracked antique background or added a brown frame around the window. Oh well! The reveal is what really makes this card special.

Supplies: Owl Together Now, Creamy Caramel marker & cardstock, Chocolate Chip marker & cardstock, Close to Cocoa marker, Old Olive marker, Pumpkin Pie marker, Jet Black Staz-On, Whisper White cardstock, Window Sheets, Coluzzle, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Vintage Brads, Stamp-a-ma-jig

Flower Fancy Magic Card

I'm winding down the week of Magic Cards. One more to go, so make sure to come back tomorrow. This one is one of my favorites because I used a two-step stamp set (Flower Fancy). It's a little more forgiving than an outline stamp because you don't have to line it up so perfectly on the window sheet. I still used the Stamp-a-ma-jig, of course.

Click here for my Magic Card Tutorial to learn how to make this card yourself.

Supplies: Flower Fancy, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Jet Black Staz-On, Dusty Durango marker & cardstock, So Saffron marker & cardstock, Old Olive ink pad, Tall Tales DSP, Window Sheet, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Gold Brads, 1/4" Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon, Circle Scissor Plus, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Sticky Strip

Cute as a Bug Mini Magic Card

Here's another Magic Card that I shared at the Cincinnati Regional Seminar. The finished size of this card is 3" x 3". It would make a cute tag or gift card. The instructions are exactly the same for this card, but start with a 6" x 6" square instead of 8-1/2" x 11" and then score at 3" and turn and score at 3" again.

Click here for my Magic Card Tutorial for the rest of the instructions.

Supplies: Cute as a Bug, Kraft cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Jet Black Staz-On, Certainly Celery marker, Rich Razzleberry marker & cardstock, So Saffron marker, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Window Sheets, Sticky Strip, 2-Way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds

Autumn Harvest Magic Card

Here's another magic card, using the Autumn Harvest stamp set. I think a card looks naked without a greeting on the front, so I added a greeting to hang off the slider tab. I wrapped the Linen Thread around the brad to get it to stay put.

Learn how to make this card: Click here for my Magic Card Tutorial.

Supplies: Autumn Harvest, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Pumpkin Pie ink & cardstock, Old Olive cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Jet Black Staz-On, Window Sheets, Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Aquapainter, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Circle Scissor Plus, Vintage Brads, Linen Thread, Modern Label Punch, 1/16" Hole Punch, 5/8" Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon

Build-a-Roo Baby Magic Card

One of my favorite things about the Magic Card is that you can have some elements of your image hidden until the slider is pulled up. On the Beary Best Friends Magic Card I posted yesterday, the surprise element was the red balloon. This time, it's the little joey hiding in the mommy's kangaroo's pouch and the expression: "peek-a-boo...someone new".

When I showed my mother the sample cards the night before my demonstration in Cincinnati, I showed her this one last and prefaced it by saying: "This is how I'm going to tell you that I can't go on the cruise."

Click here for the Magic Card Tutorial to learn how to make this card yourself. Stay tuned for more Magic Card samples to be posted every day this week!

Supplies: Build-a-Roo, Soft & Sweet, Whisper White cardstock, Regal Rose ink & cardstock, Sahara Sand ink & cardstock, Blender Pen, Jet Black Staz-On ink, Window Sheets, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, 1/16" Hole Punch, Circle Scissor Plus, 1/4" Whisper White Grosgrain Ribbon, Sticky Strip, Silver Brads, Paper Cutter with Scoring Blade, Stamp-a-ma-jig

Magic Card Tutorial

At the Stampin' Up! Regional Seminar in Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday, September 12, I had the honor or demonstrating a Workshop Wow project in front of 500 other demonstrators. Despite being a mess of nerves that morning, the presentation went well and it was a fun experience. Unfortunately, I don't have a video clip of my presentation, but I finally put together a tutorial with instructions on how to make this card.

Click here for my Magic Card Tutorial. Here is the card that I demonstrated on stage. Be sure to check back as I will be posting new Magic Card samples every single day this week!

Elise's Princess Party

Wow! Sorry for the blog silence this week. I had good intentions, but between my downline meeting on Tuesday, my 9th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, and Elise's 1st birthday yesterday, I've been a little occupied with some other things.

I'm happy to say that I just finished creating the tutorial for the Magic Card that I've been promising. I plan to post it tomorrow and will be sharing Magic Card samples every single day this week! So stay tuned!

In the meantime, here is a little photo collage from Elise's birthday party. I used the Princess Party Kit. It was so darling and so easy and make up the favors, banner, cupcake decorations, and invitations. If you need to throw a party for your little princess, I highly recommend this kit!

For All You Do Thank You Card

Last week, I mailed out the For All You Do project kits that everyone ordered. This set of projects is so darling! It's a purse box and four coordinating cards! Although my class is over, you can still get the project kit "to go". Click here for all the details.

I wanted to send a thank you note with the kits, so I whipped up this quick card using the Cottage Wall DSP and For All You Do stamp set to coordinate with the rest of the kit.

The finished card size is 3-1/2" x 5-1/2". The flower was stamped using the "Kissing" technique. I inked the flower in Pale Plum and the polka dots with Rich Razzleberry and then "kissed" the two stamps together before stamping on the cardstock.

Supplies: For All You Do, Whisper White cardstock, Certainly Celery cardstock, Pale Plum ink, Rich Razzleberry ink, Cottage Wall DSP, Silver Brads, 1/16" Hole Punch, White Organza Ribbon

Happy World Card Making Day!

Have you stamped yet today? If I had planned ahead more, I would have done a little more to celebrate World Card Making Day with a class or other event, but instead, I spent the morning stamping 75 thank you cards for my newly married friend. I meant to do it last weekend, but since I wasn't feeling well, it kept getting pushed to another night. I feel such a sense of relief and accomplishment to have finally finished this project. And believe it or not, I'm not stamped out yet! I'm kind of hoping to squeeze in a couple more cards later this afternoon!

I hope you are enjoying World Card Making Day and that you, too, can find a some time to make a card today!

These photos aren't the best, but here is the wedding card I made for my friend and his new wife. Their wedding had a sunflower theme, so while this card is not traditionally wedding, it was perfect for them.

Supplies: Fundamental Phrases, All Year Cheer II (retired), Chocolate Chip ink & cardstock, Crushed Curry cardstock, Always Artichoke cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Chocolate Chips Patterns DSP, Scallop Square Punch, Boho Flower Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, 1/8" Hole Punch, White Taffeta Ribbon, Stampin' Dimensionals
