Retro Serigraph Snowflake Cards

Remember that technique I posted last week? I couldn't find a name for it and it's a combination of other techniques, so I dubbed it "Retro Serigraph". (Click here to see my other post and a free tutorial.) I used shades of blue and the snowflakes from the Holiday Mini hostess set Northern Hearts to make these Christmas cards. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

This first card was inspired by the FTL118 sketch at Clean & Simple Stamping. My card ended up a little different, but the basic elements are there.

After I cut the circle for the first card, I couldn't bring myself to throw the scrap away, so I made a second card with the frame.

Here's a close-up of that gorgeous background again:

Click here for a free PDF tutorial for the Retro Serigraph technique.

Supplies: Northern Hearts, Four the Holidays, All Holidays, Versamark ink, Baja Breeze ink & cardstock, Not Quite Navy ink & cardstock, Bashful Blue ink, Glossy White cardstock, Whisper White cardstock, Circle Scissors Plus, Northern Flurry Embossing Folder, 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Rhinestone Jewel Accents, Stampin' Dimensionals

My Digital Studio Convention Scrapbook Pages

Double post today! I had too much fun with My Digital Studio this afternoon and couldn't wait to share these other projects with you! One of my favorite things about My Digital Studio is the designer templates. You can create an entire album in a short time by just adding your photos and some journaling. I made these pages from some of the designer templates from the Summer Home kit included in My Digital Studio. All I did was add pictures from Convention 2009 in Salt Lake City.

Attending Stampin' Up! events like Convention is one of my favorite parts of being a demonstrator. I love this excuse to get away with my friends and family (most of the time I get to meet Mom there!) and do something I love -- stamp!

If you have ever considered signing up to be a demonstrator, you should do it now! With half off the Starter Kits, you'll start your business off with an incredible value for your money! Click here to learn more about this fantastic offer, but don't wait -- the 50% Off Starter Kit special ends Tuesday, November 30.

    Here are my scrapbook pages:

Journaling: Prize Patrol: One of my favorite parts of Convention is all the free stuff and goodies we get to take home! Nancy was surprised and delighted to find out she won a copy of My Digital Studio! I won a free stamp set as a door prize and was a lucky participant in a You Crew experience.

Journaling: 10 Reasons we're so happy: 1. We're at Convention, 2. with all our friends!!, 3.and no kids!, 4. Free stamps!, 5. Fresh ideas!, 6. Memento Mall!, 7. Good food!, 8. Swapping!, 9. Home Office Tour!, 10. Meeting Shelli Gardner!

Big Shot Ideas: Baskets & Blooms; Pop-Up 3D Ball

I originally posted this last December, but thought I'd share it again since both of these dies are on sale right now. The Online Spectacular ends Tuesday, November 30th and the Clearance Rack is while supplies last.

I think the Basket & Blooms die gets overlooked in catalog. Click here to check out Shelli Gardner's creative projects using the Basket & Blooms die (#113484, Reg: $39.95; SALE:$27.97). She used it for her Christmas packaging and for a couple Valentine's projects. I especially love the valentine felt purse! My 5-yr-old would LOVE this! Check out this video to see Shelli in action and watch her demonstrate these projects on a local morning TV show.

Another die that's on sale in the Clearance Rack is the Pop-Up 3-D Ball (#116759, Reg: $39.95; SALE: $15.99 -- 60% off!). I must admit, I was stumped by this one the first time I saw it in the catalog, but I have seen the cutest things done with it! A soccer ball, a basketball...but the idea I love the most, is putting pictures on each little side. Check out this video to see how this die works.

These are just two of the Big Shot dies that are on sale in my Online Store right now. There are several others and many other products from 30-60% off. Click here to shop now and find a great bargain in my Online Stampin' Store.

    Retro Serigraph Technique Tutorial

In honor of Thanksgiving, I am posting a new free technique tutorial to thank you for following my blog, leaving feedback, and sharing my stamping journey online. I hope you have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving!

This technique is one I shared with my Stamp Club last month. It's a combination of Versamark Resist and Serigraph -- with a little Retro twist. I was trying to remember a technique my upline showed me several years ago with sticky notes. I think I got it a little backwards, but the result is stunning!

Watch for another sample using this technique with snowflakes and shades of blue!

Supplies: Falling Leaves, More Mustard ink & cardstock, Cajun Craze ink & cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Glossy White cardstock, So Saffron ink, Versamark ink, 1-1/4" & 1-3/8" Square Punches, Brayer, Sticky Notes

This offer ends Tuesday, November 30. If you've been thinking about it, don't wait! This is one offer I promise you WON'T see again!!

    Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer

The name of this stamp is Dasher, but when you add a red brad for a "very shiny nose", you can call him Rudolph! This was one for the cards we made last Saturday at Ann's Christmas Card Class. I love how clean and simple it is. It's hard to tell in the photo, but I added some 2-Way Glue and Dazzling Diamonds over the antlers.

Puffy Ornament Card with Stampin' Up! Designer Fabric

I was looking for a project idea using the Designer Fabric that I purchased a month or more ago and has sat unused on my desk. I came across a card by Angie Leach (who CASEd Michele Reynolds), and was inspired to create a puffy ornament using a cotton ball for dimension.

While the ornament concept is the same as the inspiration cards, I used a completely different layout. Instead of using the Ornament Punch, I used the 1-3/4" Circle Punch to create my own ornament with the Sweet Centers stamp set. I used a layout from a card on page 59 of the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog.

Here's a close-up of the fabric sticking out.

Here's how to do it. Punch a 1-3/4" Circle Punch in the Very Vanilla cardstock, Stamp the ornament topper from Sweet Centers at the top. Turn it over and apply Sticky Strip around the circle. Put a piece of fabric over the hole. Spread out a cotton ball and gently mold it into the fabric to puff out the front side. Press down on the fabric to adhere to the Sticky Strip. Trim the excess fabric. Add another layer of cardstock (shown to the left in the photo) to sandwich the cotton ball and hold it in place. Use the 1/16" Hole Punch to punch holes on either side of the ornament hook and tie the Linen Thread through the holes to attach the tag.

Supplies: Friends 24-7 (flourish at the bottom), Sweet Centers (ornament topper), Tiny Tags ("merry"), Always Artichoke ink & cardstock, Cherry Cobbler ink & cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Crumb Cake cardstock, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, 1/16" Hole Punch, Small Jewelry Tag Punch, Corner Rounder, Deck the Halls Designer Fabric, Linen Thread, Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionals

    Peek-a-Boo Gift Card Holder Tutorial

My downline Margo Richardson shared this project with me. I've seen several versions of it, but I was able to trace it back to Connie Stewart, who shared it as her swap at Founder's Circle this fall. Thanks for the inspiration Connie (and Margo)!

This gift card holder has a pocket for the gift card, with a flap that goes over it. It slides into a sleeve, where the image (adhered on the front of the pocket) peeks through.

This free tutorial includes instructions on how to make this gift holder, including the cardstock measurements.

Supplies: Contempo Christmas, Word Play, Cherry Cobbler ink/marker & cardstock, Old Olive marker/ink & cardstock, Very Vanilla cardstock, Holly Jolly DSP, 1/4" Very Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon, Ornament Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Sticky Strip

Birthday Card Catch-Up & Thumping Technique

The past month has been a blur! I finally caught up on a month's worth of birthday cards. I needed something clean and simple since I didn't have a lot of time, so I turned to the FTL113 sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping.

It's a pretty clean and simple card, so there's not much to say about it. I did the "Thumping" technique on the leave. First I inked it with More Mustard, then I took the Cajun Craze marker and tapped/"thumped" the brush tip (that's the bigger end) like a drumstick on the inked rubber and the stamped it on the cardstock.

Supplies: Falling Leaves, Teeny Tiny Wishes, More Mustard ink & cardstock, Cajun Craze marker & cardstock, Early Espresso ink, Very Vanilla cardstock, Autumn Spice DSP

    Candy Countdown Calendar Cards

Since I decorated the front of the Candy Countdown Calendar box a little differently, I had all the die cuts from the kit leftover. I punched squares and circles from those die cuts to use on these cards:

(I hand-cut the critters from one of the die-cut pieces for the focal point of this card.)

    Candy Countdown Calendar Box Make-Over

When I saw the Candy Countdown Calendar Kit in the Holiday Mini Catalog, I saw lots of potential. I bought a set as soon as it was available, but not to create a countdown calendar. I love it for all the boxes, and ribbons, and all the pieces in comes with. I made-over the box and decorated it to give on its own.

I used Sticky Strip to adhere the glitter down the front of this box. And a little silver Smooch Top Coat to tie in the silver on the stamped ornament (greeting from Word Play).

Watch for more projects using pieces from this kit!
