3 "CASE the Catalog" Projects using Stampin' Up! Inked Botanicals Designer Paper

When I first started as a demonstrator 21 years ago, the Annual Catalog was called the "Idea Book & Catalog" and even though the name has changed, it still very much is an idea book. There are hundreds of project samples -- at least one for every stamp set in the catalog -- that are meant to inspire us as stampers! I often turn to Stampin' Up! Catalog for inspiration.

I always talked about CASEing the Catalog. CASE stands for "Copy And Share Everything" -- another way of saying "copy". I prefer the definition "Copy And Selectively Edit". Somtimes when I CASE a project, I copy it exactly. And other times, I make a few changes to make it my own. 

Today, I'm sharing three projects that I CASEd from the 2023-2024 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog and the original inspiration cards. I hope it inspires you to look at the catalog in a new way and be inspired by the projects that Stampin' Up! Concept Artists have created.

Here is the original project. This one is CASEd almost exactly from the Annual Catalog on page 5. The only thing I changed was the sentiment -- using a different punch and adding some ribbon instead of linen thread.

When I saw this next card on page 94, I loved the idea of tiling the designer paper punchouts, but chose to simplify by attaching them to a Very Vanilla notecard instead of doing a full size card.

I love the versatily of the Inked Botanicals Designer Paper. It's not just for the Inked & Tiled bundle! For my last card, I paired the versatile plaid pattern with the Bird's Eye View stamp set.

Here is the original project from page 48 created by Stampin' Up! Concept Artists. As you can see, I made a lot of changes! I was worried about punching circles that were perfectly lind up, so I staggered the circles on purpose. 

Tip: Stamp the birds on a different circle and center under the punched circle to better line them up.

6 Stampin' Up! Masterfully Made Project Ideas + Sunday Stamping Video

While I was in Utah in March, I got to meet the Stampin' Up! Product Designer, Julie, who created the Masterfully Made designer paper. I saw her original artwork -- created with torn cardstock and designer paper and hear about her creative process. Some of the patterns in this beautiful designer paper were created digitally. It was a fascinating behind-the-scenes peek!

I was inspired by Julie's art when I created the flower embellishment for my card. It did involve some tearing, but I created a spiral flower instead of layered torn pieces. (Check out the video below to see how I created it.)

I made a second version of this card with a different pattern from the designer paper. I think I prefer these colors: Pretty Peacock, Berry Burst, and Lemon Lime Twist. Which card do you prefer? Leave a comment and let me know!

Stampin' Up! Countryside Inn Simple Flap Card + Video Tutorial

I was inspired by a card by Kelly Acheson when I created this Countryside Inn version of this simple designer paper flap card. I love that you can see both sides of this gorgeous paper! I used the Bough Punch and Petal Park Punch to embellishment the Countryside Corners tag and tie in the floral design.

I used a card front for the card base, but if you wanted more room to write, you could use a full card instead.

Card Measurements: 

• 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" Night of Navy Cardstock 
• 3-1/2" x 7-1/2" Countryside Inn Designer Paper, score at 4-3/4"
