VIDEO: Floating Pop-Up Card Tutorial

I'm so excited to be participating in the Top Ten International Highlights Winner’s Blog Hop April 2019 hosted by Kylie Bertucci!  First, I want to thank you for taking the time to vote for my creation in the gallery a couple of weeks ago. There were so many amazing projects and I am honored to have my card receive so many votes!

I have another fun fold card to share with you today! I was inspired by a card that I saw on Pinterest and concept just kind of stuck in my head for a couple months before I finally tried made one myself. Now I've made several versions and I just can't stop myself because they are so fun! Be sure to watch my video below to see my other samples!

The inside has four squares (1-1/4" x 1-1/4" designer paper layered on 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" Night of Navy cardstock) that are attached to a 1" x 8-1/2" strip. I like to use the same color as the card base so that the squares look like they are "floating".

How fun are all these little flowers! I love the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack from the Occasions Catalog and I am so sad that it will not carry over to the new Annual Catalog! Be sure to get it soon because it's only available while supplies last! There are three different shaped flower punches and the fourth punch includes the flower center and a leaf in one punch. I use colors that coordinated with the designer paper to make the flowers for the front and inside of my card.

Control Freaks Blog Tour: Masculine Fun Fold Cards with Classic Garage

Whether you are coming from the creative and talented Wendy Weixler's blog or just joining us -- welcome to the April 2019 Control Freaks Blog Tour! Our theme this month is For the Men -- Masculine cards for all the men in your life! 

I am excited to share two fun folds with you today! The cards are very similar. The first one is an explosion card and the second one includes a miniature version of the first one INSIDE the card! I'm calling it an Exploding Pop-Up Card.

Here's the Explosion Card closed. I tied a ribbon around the entire card to keep it closed.

 You can see the unique fold as you start to open the card.

 It opens up to the full 8" x 8" square. The scoring measurements are very simple. Score at 4" on each side. Then score on one diagonal. Start by folding the diagonal in half away from you. Open it back up. Then fold on a straight score line toward you. Open it back up and fold on the other straight line toward you. Now the card is primed and ready to fold back on to itself. Use a bone folder to get good creases.

 Check out the inside panel! I used the Embossing Mats with the Garage Gears Thinlit Dies to create this embossed look. The Embossing Mats are retiring, so be sure to get this Big Shot accessory before it's gone!

 Once you've made the Explosion Card, the Exploding Pop Up Card is a piece of cake! Here is the outside of my card. I used the same color scheme as the first card: Tranquil Tide, Basic Black, and Crushed Curry. I love this Classic Garage Designer Paper! It's so easy to make masculine cards with colors that pop!

The inside is just a mini Explosion Card! The inside piece is 4" x 4", scored at 2" from either side and then one diagonal. Use the same folding instructions as above. Collapse the insider piece and glue one side at a time so that the point of the diamond is just inside the center score line.

Sweetest Thing Sweet Cup + PDF Template

Whenever I do a big card class, I include a "goody bag" with a sampling of new product. For our Spring Celebrations class, the product I included in the goody bag was from the How Sweet It Is Suite from the Occasions Catalog. I always design a few projects using the goody bag supplies and then include an inspiration sheet with measurements so my guests can duplicate the projects at home. Although I did not include a Sweet Cup in the goody bag, I did design a project with these cute cups to show off the designer paper, ribbon, and tag. I hand cut the small candies from the designer paper to embellish the tag.

Tip: To get the ribbon to stay put and not slide off, use a small piece of tape across the ribbon to secure it to the bottom of the cup.

• Start with a piece of designer paper that is 3" x 12". Trace the template (above) on the back of the designer paper and cut out.
• Put Tear & Tape Adhesive on both ends of the designer paper sleeve on the back side of the paper. Do NOT put adhesive across the entire sleeve. This will be more difficult to control. 
• Adhere one end to the cut and wrap the paper around the cup, tucking the top edge under the cup lip, and adhere the other end to the paper.

You can find the Sweet Cups in the Occasions Catalog in the How Sweet It Is Suite Collection on pages 14 and 15. You can customize these cups for any occasion by changing out the designer paper and handmade tag!

Clean and Simple Sweet Celebration Card

This is a clean and simple layout that is a great way to show off designer paper -- like the bright and fun How Sweet It Is paper from the Occasions Catalog! The Jar of Sweets die cut both the stamp images and the images from the designer paper,  including the gummy bear jar I used as the focal point for this card.  This was one of the three projects I included on the Inspiration Sheet for our Spring Celebrations class goody bag last weekend.

The designer paper squares are 1-1/2" x 1-1/2". You can substitute any paper and color to completely change the look and feel of this card! If you create a card with this layout, I'd love to see it! Leave a link in the comments below!
