Control Freaks Blog Tour: Watercolor Wings Half Circle Pop-Up Card and Mini Frame

Whether you are coming from Judy DiScipio's blog or just joining us -- welcome to the June 2015 Control Freaks Blog Tour!! It's been a few months since I've been able to play along, so I'm excited to share some new Stampin' Up! catalog projects with my freaky friends. I hope that you enjoy the tour and are inspired by what you see!

My projects use my favorite new stamp set: Watercolor Wings and the coordinating Bold Butterfly framelits. I also used one of the new ("junior) In Colors: Mint Macaron and paired it with an "senior" In Color: Lost Lagoon. What a great combination!

This pretty card has a surprise inside!

I designed this half circle pop up card when I was making projects for Spring into Stamping (our team's annual demonstrator training event). I used the same colors and stamp set to create this cute little frame. I can't remember where I found the frame. The inside measurement is 3-1/2" x 2-1/2"...to fit a wallet size photo I guess. I die cut the detailed butterfly with vellum cardstock. It adds a pretty layer of detail to this framed art. And the In Color Blossom Accent is perfect in the middle.

Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wings Cards in Lost Lagoon & Mint Macaron

Life is pretty hectic with four kids running around, but this summer has been extra busy. We have either been traveling, preparing to traveling, or catching up and recovering from travel! I just got back from Convention, but on Sunday, we loaded up and took off on another trip! The kids and I are in Michigan this week staying with my family while the older kids are attending day camp at a nearby historical park. Once we get back, we'll have just a week and a half until school starts. I am looking forward to getting back into a "normal" schedule! That means back to regular blog posts and finally launching some things I've had in the works since Spring!

Sorry for the lack of posts while we were traveling. I'm still working on the video tutorial that I promised in my last post. In the meantime, I wanted to share the cards that I created for my Stamp of the Month Club, but in a different color scheme. I couldn't decide which colors I liked best, but ultimately went with the orange and yellow colors (below) because they felt more summery. Leave me a comment and let me know which colors you prefer! Watercolor Wings Baby Wipe Technique + Video

The Baby Wipe Technique is an easy way to create multi-colored images that look tie-dyed. If you haven't tried the Baby Wipe technique before, it's easy! Add drops of reinkers in multiple colors to a baby wipe and then use it as an ink pad to stamp your image. You can use the baby wipe to stamp many times and it will look a little different every time you stamp it!

I've done this technique many times, but was inspired by a card I received on the cruise from UK Demonstrator Julie Kettlewell. I changed up the colors, but otherwise, made these thank you cards exactly like Julie's card. I used the new In Colors Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, and Sweet Sugarplum on this card and then stamped the butterfly's body and antennae in black over the wings. For the splatter, I squeeze the Gold Wink of Stella Pen to create a small pool of ink on a clear block and then pick up a little ink with the brush tip and tap the pen to splatter the ink across your card.
