VIDEO: Stampin' Up! Gorgeous Leaves Card Baby Wipe Technique

Fall is my favorite time of year because of the gorgeous colors. Autumn is peaking this week here in Central Illinois. It seems a little later than normal, but the colors are especially stunning this year! It was the fall colors that inspired this Gorgeous Leaves card and what better way to create a multi-colored image than the Baby Wipe Technique!

Have you tried the Baby Wipe Technique? Start with a Baby Wipe and fold in to half or quarters. Protect your work service by placing the the baby wipe on a cutting pad, silicone craft mat, or the Clear Block F. Add drops of 2-3 different ink refills to create a temporary "ink pad". Stamp your image. (You'll be able to use each baby wipe multiple times.) For this project, I used Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, and Cajun Craze.

VIDEO: Baby Wipe Technique + Love of Leaves

In September, I demonstrated the Baby Wipe Technique to create a card during my Thursday Night Stamp Therapy Facebook Live. I created a new extra pieces during the video, but never shared the finished card. Here is how I combined the image and the baby wipe stripes.

VIDEO: Baby Wipe Technique Beautiful Peacock Card

There's only two weeks left to get your favorite Sale-a-Bration goodies before they are gone! Learn More The Beautiful Peacock and ALL of the Sale-a-Bration stamp sets will not be available in any future catalog.

I was inspired by a card swap created by my friend Mary Ellen Stites when I created this card. I love the clean layout and incorporating the embossing folder and colored rhinestones. Mary Ellen used a different technique to color the peacock's feathers on her card. I wanted more of a tie-dyed look, so I  used the Baby Wipe Technique. All you need is a baby wipe and reinkers! Be sure to watch my video tutorial below so you can try this technique at home.

Watercolor Wings Baby Wipe Technique + Video

The Baby Wipe Technique is an easy way to create multi-colored images that look tie-dyed. If you haven't tried the Baby Wipe technique before, it's easy! Add drops of reinkers in multiple colors to a baby wipe and then use it as an ink pad to stamp your image. You can use the baby wipe to stamp many times and it will look a little different every time you stamp it!
Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wings Baby Wipe Technique + video tutorial #stampinup www.juliedavison.com

I've done this technique many times, but was inspired by a card I received on the cruise from UK Demonstrator Julie Kettlewell. I changed up the colors, but otherwise, made these thank you cards exactly like Julie's card. I used the new In Colors Peekaboo Peach, Flirty Flamingo, and Sweet Sugarplum on this card and then stamped the butterfly's body and antennae in black over the wings. For the splatter, I squeeze the Gold Wink of Stella Pen to create a small pool of ink on a clear block and then pick up a little ink with the brush tip and tap the pen to splatter the ink across your card.

Guest Artist: Kim Schultze & Baby Wipe Technique

Colors: Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Pear Pizzazz
One of my favorite demonstrations at Spring Into Stamping was Kim Schultze's reinker techniques. Today I'm going to share some of her gorgeous samples that she created using the Baby Wipes technique. Please be sure to visit Kim's Facebook page to say hello and and let her know how much you love her projects!
Have your tried the Baby Wipe technique before? It's so very easy! You'll need Baby Wipes, a plastic (or non-paper container or plate), classic ink refills, stamps, and cardstock. You can purchase reinkers individually or by color family. They are good to have on hand to refresh your ink pads.

    Baby Wipe Technique

    1.  Fold the baby wipe into quarters and set it inside a non-paper container or plate to protector the surface underneath from getting wet and inky.
    2.  Apply 2-3 reinkers to the baby wipe one color at a time in random dots. Start with the darkest color and end with the lightest color. (Using more than 3 colors often leads to a "muddy" wipe.)
    3.  Use the baby wipe as a ink pad. Place the stamp over it and press done. Then lift up and stamp on the cardstock. You can use the same wipe many times without reinking.
    4.  Discard the wipe when you are done.
Check out Kim's finished cards using this technique. I love the colors she paired together: Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush, and Crushed Curry.
