CASEing the Catalog with In the Pines

Whenever a new catalog comes out, I love to flip through and mark the projects that I want to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit). Sometimes I copy them exactly like I did with this first In the Pines Card.

Other times, I use the inspiration project as a springboard and change an element or two -- such as the stamp set or colors -- or both -- as I did in the second card.

Here's the original catalog project:

For this second card, I was inspired by the Lots of Leaves card below. I used a different Plaid Tidings pattern and made a Christmas card with the same idea as the inspiration card: a negative die cut space layered over designer paper.

Stampin' Up! Dove of Hope: Christmas Blessings Card

Here is the second card design in my Dove of Hope card kit. I left off the dove and focused on the other images in this stamp set -- the branch and ornament. I really love these non-traditional colors for a Christmas card: Night of Navy, Mossy Meadow, and Sahara Sand. I choose these colors based on the Brightly Gleaming Designer Paper from the August-December Mini Catalog, which I incorporated in all of the card designs in this kit.
