VIDEO: Tips for Using Soft Pastels Assortment

Stampin' Up! Soft Pastels Assortment
When I joined Stampin' Up! as a demonstrator 19 years ago, I received an assortment of Chalk Pastels in my Starter Kit. I loved use the chalks to color images and quickly learned some fun techniques with them. It's been many year now since those chalk palettes were retired, but Stampin' Up! introduced some new Soft Pastels in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. I brought back some of my favorite techniques when I shared these cards earlier this month during Thursday Night Stamp Therapy.

One of my favorite techniques is "Poppin' Pastels" -- stamp an image in Versamark ink and brush the Soft Pastels over the image to "stick" to the ink. I used this technique to make both of these cards. Which one do you prefer? Clean and simple or a pop of extra color with the added designer paper?

You can also use the chalks to color -- apply directly to the paper and blend or pick up the color from the chalk pastel using a Water Painter or Blender Pen.

I love the Dandy Garden Suite! Although the stamp sets and coordinating dies and punch are going to carry over to the Annual Catalog, the designer paper, ribbon, embellishments, and Memories & More cards are all retiring on June 30. While supplies last, get a discount on most of it during the Last Chance Sale

Here are two cards that I made with the Dandy Garden Memories & More Cards plus the Dandy Garden Memories & More Cards & Envelopes. I used a sponge dauber to create a blended background on the card base to add more color. And on the first card, I colored the dandelions with the chalks to customize it.
