Stampin' Up! Build a Birthday Card

It has been a busy month at my house! Our summer schedule is a little more hectic than I anticipated. The days are going fast and I feel like I am barely keeping up with everything. With two trips in July and one in August, I don't think it's going to slow down until school starts again!

We also celebrate a lot of birthdays in the summer. My husband's birthday was Friday and my mother's is Monday. VIDEO Tutorial: Kissing Technique + Starburst Punch Trick

I really love this card! I've been using it all month as a make and take at my events. It's clean and simple and super easy, but incorporates two fun techniques that you can use on other projects.

I love the effect of "kissing" the stamps together. First, ink the bold stamp in a light color (I used Bermuda Bay ink). Ink the background stamp in a dark color (I used Island Indigo ink). Then, "kiss" them together. Stamp the bold image on the cardstock and viola!

Did you notice the starburst shape? I used the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch to create it! Here's how:

1. Punch a Scallop Circle.
2. Use removable adhesive or just a small bit of adhesive to adhere the scallop circle punch to a piece of scrap paper. (Or use a sticky note!)
3. Line up the scallops so the point falls in the middle of each scallop.
4. Punch again and remove from scrap paper.

VIDEO & PDF: Half Circle Pop Up Card Tutorial

Some days don't go as I plan. I'm sure you can relate! With four kids running around my house, I'd say that MOST days don't go as I plan!

This tutorial is long overdue! This card is the final in my series for the May Stamp of the Month Club, when I featured the Kinda Eclectic and Flower Patch stamp sets, but I originally designed it for our Spring Into Stamping demonstrator training event. And I'm proud to say that this card is an original design! I often CASE awesome projects and put my own twist on it, but this one is my own brain child! Control Freaks Blog Tour: Watercolor Wings Half Circle Pop-Up Card and Mini Frame

Whether you are coming from Judy DiScipio's blog or just joining us -- welcome to the June 2015 Control Freaks Blog Tour!! It's been a few months since I've been able to play along, so I'm excited to share some new Stampin' Up! catalog projects with my freaky friends. I hope that you enjoy the tour and are inspired by what you see!

My projects use my favorite new stamp set: Watercolor Wings and the coordinating Bold Butterfly framelits. I also used one of the new ("junior) In Colors: Mint Macaron and paired it with an "senior" In Color: Lost Lagoon. What a great combination!

This pretty card has a surprise inside!

I designed this half circle pop up card when I was making projects for Spring into Stamping (our team's annual demonstrator training event). I'll be posting the video tutorial for technique this weekend, so be sure to come back and visit me or subscribe to my YouTube channel so you can see the video tutorial and learn how to make this fun card!

I used the same colors and stamp set to create this cute little frame. I can't remember where I found the frame. The inside measurement is 3-1/2" x 2-1/2"...to fit a wallet size photo I guess. I die cut the detailed butterfly with vellum cardstock. It adds a pretty layer of detail to this framed art. And the In Color Blossom Accent is perfect in the middle.

Stampin' Up! Watercolor Wings + Bold Butterfly Framelits & Fluttering Embossing Folder

I used some card pieces from the Kinda Eclectic card I posted past week and created a card with some of my favorite new products: the Watercolor Wings stamp set and Bold Butterfly Framelits. I also love the new Fluttering embossing folder (as well as the Brick embossing folder) because they are 6x6, so that you can make the pattern go horizontal or vertical and still cover a card front. So smart!!

I used the Perfect Accents embellishment in the center of the butterfly. These are new in the Annual Catalog.
