Stampin' Up! Flower Patch Birthday Card

When I designed the Kinda Eclectic cards for Spring Into Stamping and my Stamp of the Month Club, I wanted to show the versatility of using the same card layouts and changing the stamp set. I did two sets of cards using the same colors and the same layouts and simply changed the stamp sets. Here is the Flower Patch version of the horizontal banner card. I love this layout so much, I am featuring it in my upcoming "Pocket Full of Sketches" volume 2 sketch book! I'll post details on how you can get one as soon as I get them back from the printer!

Kinda Eclectic Card + New Weekly Deals

Sorry for the blog silence this week! The kids and I took a road trip and are visiting my family in Michigan this week. Last night I attended my nephew's high school graduation and today we are celebrating Claire's 10th birthday! In between, the kids are enjoying cousin time and I am squeezing in a little work in between late night giggle fests with my sisters and stamping time with Mom!

Before I take the kids out for some birthday fun, I wanted to share this card -- one from the Kinda Eclectic series in my May Stamp of the Month Club and also a make and take from our Spring Into Stamping event last month. I still have two more cards and a video to share from this series of projects, so stay tuned!!

Mini Grid Journals + NEW! Weekly Deals

One of the projects in this month's Stamp of the Month Club kit is not a card -- it's a mini grid journal! I originally designed this project for Spring Into Stamping as a place for demonstrators to jot down sketches or card layouts that inspired them at the event, in the catalog, everywhere. You can use these cute little books for just about anything, but make sure to buy them before they are gone in just one week! And if you're looking for a larger size journal, be sure to check out the new Weekly Deals!

Stamp of the Month Club Reveal + Clean & Simple Masculine Card

This month, I am featuring two different stamp sets for my Stamp of the Month Club. I used the same project pieces to create cards using the same layouts with each stamp set. I created these projects for the Spring Into Stamping demonstrator event we held earlier this month. I originally designed the cards using the Kinda Eclectic stamp set and then made the second set with the Flower Patch stamp set and coordinating framelits. Both of these stamp sets are in the 2014-2015 Annual Catalog and are not retiring. Club members will have their pick of the stamp set and will get pre-cut supplies to make one each of all six projects.

The first card in this series is a clean and simple masculine layout featuring Mossy Meadow and Basic Black. This layout works with any color pairing and nearly any stamp set.

Guest Artist: Karla Endris + Embossing with Thinlits

Look at this beautiful display that Karla Endris created for Spring Into Stamping! I love how she displayed her sample cards. Karla demonstrated how to emboss with thinlits, a technique she said was inspired by fellow demonstrator France Martin.
Here's a close-up of some of the cards. She used thinlits to create a "dry emboss" look -- essentially pressing them into the cardstock without cutting.
Embossing With Thinlits

1. (Optional) Ink up the ridged side of the thinlit.
2. Place the thinlit ink side down on a piece of cardstock.
3. From bottom to top, layer the pieces in your Big Shot: Magnetic Platform, Crease Pad, Cardstock, Thinlit, Crease Pad. (Essentially, you replace the cutting pads with crease pads.)
4. The Thinlit will not cut through the crease pad! Use the embossed piece on your card. You can add color by to the images with an AquaPainter or Blender Pen.

Guest Artist: Kim Schultze & Baby Wipe Technique

Colors: Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Pear Pizzazz
One of my favorite demonstrations at Spring Into Stamping was Kim Schultze's reinker techniques. Today I'm going to share some of her gorgeous samples that she created using the Baby Wipes technique. Please be sure to visit Kim's Facebook page to say hello and and let her know how much you love her projects!
Have your tried the Baby Wipe technique before? It's so very easy! You'll need Baby Wipes, a plastic (or non-paper container or plate), classic ink refills, stamps, and cardstock. You can purchase reinkers individually or by color family. They are good to have on hand to refresh your ink pads.

Baby Wipe Technique

1.  Fold the baby wipe into quarters and set it inside a non-paper container or plate to protector the surface underneath from getting wet and inky.
2.  Apply 2-3 reinkers to the baby wipe one color at a time in random dots. Start with the darkest color and end with the lightest color. (Using more than 3 colors often leads to a "muddy" wipe.)
3.  Use the baby wipe as a ink pad. Place the stamp over it and press done. Then lift up and stamp on the cardstock. You can use the same wipe many times without reinking.
4.  Discard the wipe when you are done.
Check out Kim's finished cards using this technique. I love the colors she paired together: Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush, and Crushed Curry.

Spring Into Stamping 2015 Highlights

Our 10th annual Spring Into Stamping demonstrator training event was Saturday, May 2nd. After 10 years, we really have things down pat! The all day event is filled with business presentations, lots of demonstrations, swapping, door prizes, a game show, lunch, and of course, make and takes.
The Spring Into Stamping Event Planning Committee:
Kim Peck, Mary Ellen Stites, Meg Loven, and me

It was my job to coordinate the make and takes again this year. I designed six projects. (I'll reveal them soon!) Preparing six projects for 92 people is no small task! I have to give a shout out to all my make and take helpers and those who helped me with all the prep work. I couldn't have done it all by myself! Thank you so much for your help! Here are a few photos from the day.
After lunch, we usually do a fun game show. This year, Chaya Sandler hosted Jeopardy. So fun! Afterwards, we broke into our afternoon session. Half of the room worked on make and takes while the other half checked out the Demonstrator Fair. We had six new demonstration in the morning and six different ones in the afternoon.
Mary McCormick demonstrator paper piecing techniques.
I loved this card on Tammie Rundle's display. Tammie demonstrated different watercolor techniques. For this card, she stamped a line image several times across the watercolor paper and then blended it with a an Aqua Painter. Check out Tammie's blog for more of her beautiful projects.
Glenda Travelstead shared her beautiful Monthly Samplers. Glenda offers this class each month with a new themed sampler. The 12x12 sampler fits into a frame, or you can use the individual pieces on cards or scrapbook pages.  If you're in Northern Illinois, be sure to connect with Glenda on her Facebook page here to attend her local classes.
I loved this tip that Glenda shared. She created templates out of the cardboard that comes with the designer paper to help her line up the squares. She said she starts with the corners and works in.
Watch for more pictures from Spring Into Stamping in the coming week!
