Control Freaks Blog Tour: Cookie Cutter Halloween Projects

Tonight I have two projects to share with you using the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set (#142255). I don't usually buy Halloween stamp sets, but this set was just too irresistible with the coordinating punch. You can purchase the Cookie Cutter punch by itself or get it bundled with the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set for even more cookie critter fun!

The first project is a card that I designed for a workshop earlier this month. I hate coloring, but it was easy to add color to the scarecrow with the Stampin' Write markers. I used Delightful Dijon (hay, hat), Cajun Craze (nose, patches), Sahara Sand (jacket), Marina Mist (pants), and Old Olive (hat).

Between the textured Cable Knit Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (143537), the burlap, and the linen thread -- I'm feeling ready for a hay rack ride!

I absolutely love this little gift box. I pulled out the pattern years ago to make this box card. I'm working on a video tutorial, so make sure to come back later this week and I will share the measurements and details so you can duplicate this project at home.

  

The top of the box is a card that opens and the drawer pulls out to hold a small gift or treat. This box holds a pair of earrings that I made with the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set and shrinky dinks! It's super easy!

At our team meeting last month, Alison Stachera shared some tips to make these earrings after being inspired by a project she found on Pinterest. I love how easy they are and it just so happened that I had shrinky dink plastic in my craft stash! (I think I ordered the shrink plastic on Amazon, but it's also available at a craft store.)

TIPS:

1. Stamp the image with Jet Black Staz-On ink. Allow the ink to dry before handling the plastic so you don't smear it.
2. Use permanent markers or colored pencils to color the image if desired.
3. Punch the shrink plastic with your punch or use scissors to trim around the image.
4. If you are making earrings or a charm, be sure to punch a hole (I used 1/8" Hole Punch) BEFORE you shrink it.
5. Use a Paper Piercing Tool through the hole to keep the plastic from moving around in a heat-safe container (I used an old baking pan) and heat it with the Heat Tool until it shrinks completely. (It will look like it's going to fold into a ball -- keep going! It will lay flat again!) You can also use an oven for this step.
