It's the last day to get the Bird Banter stamp set and all of the retiring stamp sets and products from the Annual and Occasions Catalogs, so I had to squeak in one more tutorial for the week! This fun fold card is the third card in my May Stamp of the Month Club card kit.
I made a peek-a-boo shutter card many years ago, but changed up the measurements a little and finally created a tutorial to explain the cuts and scores that will make this card a piece of cake for you to make at home!
The front is fairly simple with a row of little birdies. When you open the card, the shutter opens to reveal another bird next to the birthday message.
Here are the cardstock measurements for the main pieces of this card:
8-1/2" x 5-1/2" Lemon Lime Twist, scored at 2-1/8" and 6-3/8"
3" x 5-1/2" Tangerine Tango (inside)
(2) 3" x 4" Tempting Turquoise
2" Circle Punch
Watch my video tutorial to learn how to cut the cardstock and assemble the Gate Fold Shutter Card. Even though the Bird Banter stamp set is retiring, this card template and idea will work with any stamp set! Stay tuned! I'm sure I'll make some more cards using new catalog products.
There is no
commitment when you join my Stamp of the Month Club! I'll add you to my club mailing list and you'll receive one email each month revealing the stamp set and
card designs. You can choose when you want to participate by simply replying to
that email.
Each month, I feature a different stamp set. Those who participate
in May will receive the Bird Banter Photopolymer stamp set (or
substitute a different set), pre-cut materials to make 6 cards (2 each
of 3 designs), printed
instructions with a color photo of each card, and Priority Mail
shipping. Click here to learn more about Stamp of the Month Club.

Once you make a Twist Gate Fold Card, you won't be able to stop! I was inspired after seeing a video tutorial by Dawn Olchefske last month and have made five different Twist Gate Fold cards since! The scoring and folding it so much easier than it looks. The hardest part is deciding which two coordinating designer papers to use! Here are four of the cards that I've had so far -- some using retiring products and some using brand new products!
Be sure to watch my video tutorial below to learn how to make this card and to see one more finished card sample. I've included a Twist Gate Fold card in my May 2018 Bonus Project Kit! Order $40 or more in my Online Store by May 31 to earn your bonus project kit with the pre-cut materials to make your own Twist Gate Fold card at home!

Twist Gate Fold Card Directions:
To make this card, you'll need a piece of cardstock that is 4-1/4" x 7-1/2". Score at 2-1/2" and 5" to create three panels. On the first and third panel, score from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. (See diagram.) Fold the panel in and the diagonal out to form the card base. Use a Bone Folder to get a good crease on all of the folds.
To decorate the front, use two pieces of coordinating designer paper that are 3-7/8" x 2-1/4" each. Cut them in opposite directions from corner to corner. Adhere designer paper to the front and under flaps of the card and embellish as desired. Make sure to apply adhesive only on part of the embellishments so that card does not get glued closed!
