VIDEO: Stampin' Up! Sale-a-Bration Catching Butterflies Card + Paper Piecing Technique

I used this stamp set to create a card in one of my sneak peek videos in December. I wanted to feature the 2021-2023 In Color Designer Paper Pack and demonstrated the paper piecing technique. I love paper piecing! It's an easy technique that adds a pop of pattern to your project. (See more samples.) 

Paper Piecing Technique Instructions:

• Stamp the image in black ink on plain cardstock and again on designer paper
• Cut out the designer paper around the portion of the image that you want to be patterned
• Glue the designer paper over the stamped image on the cardstock.

This Little Piggy...Believed She Could!

Have you broken down and gotten this stamp set yet? I just love these little pigs! The sentiment on today's card has always been one of my favorite. "She believed she could...so she did." Yesterday, my 12 year old daughter reminded me of another great gem: "Nothing is impossible. The word itself says 'I'm possible!" (Audrey Hepburn)

This Little Piggy Makes Me Happy

I am obsessed with This Little Piggy! He's just so darn cute! I used the paper-piecing technique again for this card. I really like how sharp the color looks. Just stamp it twice -- once on white and once on Powder Pink and then fussy cut the pig from the pink and glue him over the one on white. Easy peasy! Another great new In Color combination: Berry Burst, Powder Pink, and Lemon Lime Twist.

2 Cards for Global Designer Project Color Challenge #89

I am posting this for the Global Design Project Color Challenge #89  with about an hour to spare. It's been a busy week to end a roller coaster month. My grandfather died last Monday, a day before his 90th birthday and just three weeks after we celebrated my grandparents' 70th wedding anniversary with a big party. Although his health has been deteriorating for awhile, his death was still sudden and  I am absolutely heartbroken! Please keep my family in your prayers!

Tonight, we returned home from attending his funeral services in Michigan. I wanted to share the cards that I made earlier this week. I squeezed in some "stamp therapy" and made these cards with the GDP colors: Basic Black, Old Olive, and Calypso Coral.

I used the Paper Piecing technique on this card. Stamp the image on several colors of cardstock and cut out each segment to glue over the image stamped on Whisper White cardstock.

This Little Piggy Swap Card

This Little Piggy...is so cute!! I was thrilled to get this stamp set early at the Stampin' Up! On Stage event in April. It was an all-attendee giveaway. I don't like to color, so I used the paper piecing technique on this card that I designed for our new catalog team card swap.

Paper Piecing Technique: I stamped the pig in Basic Black ink on the Whisper White cardstock and again on the Powder Pink (NEW In Color!!) cardstock. I cut around the pink pig and glued him over the Whisper White cardstock. Before attaching the cut out, I watercolored the mud with Sahara Sand and an AquaPainter. TIP: Instead of cutting around the curly tail, just cut it off from the pink cut out and color the Whisper White cardstock using the coordinating Powder Pink marker. Use the marker to also highlight the pig's ears and snout!
