VIDEO: Fall Fest Bordered Sentiment Card Tutorial

I am finally getting caught up on filming videos. I'm excited to share a quick video for this clean and simple card using the Fall Fest stamp set, my Stamp of the Month Club pick for September. The technique I used on this card is called "Bordered Sentiment" and it fairly easy. Start with the greeting, mark lines on either side and then use a sticky note to mask and stamp around it. This flat layer of cardstock appears to have more dimension than it really does. Check out my video tutorial to see how it comes together.

Fall Fest: Boo to You Card

I was trying to make a card using the ghost stamp in the Fall Fest stamp set. I think he would look great embossed in white, but I decided to use Sahara Sand ink to coordinate with the Motley Monsters designer paper to create on this simple tag card.

Stamp of the Month Club: Fall Fest Give Thanks Card

It was hard to choose which stamp set to feature for my Stamp of the Month Club this month because there are so many great options in the new Holiday Catalog. I was really drawn to the Fall Fest stamp set because it included some Halloween images, but it wasn't JUST Halloween. The pumpkins and leaves are perfect for fall and Thanksgiving cards. Here is the first of three cards for my September Stamp of the Month Club series. Be sure to check out and "follow" my 2014 Holiday Catalog Pinterest Board for even more ideas using this great stamp set.

Control Freaks Blog Tour: Freaky Friends & Motley Monsters

Greetings from Utah! I'm far away from home this month hanging out with the other Top 100 Stampin' Up! Demonstrators of the Year at the Founder's Circle Retreat, but I couldn't resist participating in this month's Control Freaks Blog Tour so I could share some fun Halloween projects with you.

Whether you came from Judy DiScipio's blog or you are just joining the fun, you're in for a treat! Make sure to hop all the way through the tour to check out what we've created. This month's theme is "Boo to You".

For my projects, I used the brand new Freaky Friends stamp set and Motley Monsters Designer Paper from the Holiday Catalog. I wasn't going to get this stamp set, but the little goblins are just too cute! I couldn't resist and it arrived on my doorstep a week before I left.

My first card is a fun "Flap Fold Card". It's a fun fold card that is so much easier than it looks!

Here's how to make the Flap Fold Card:
  • Start with a 4-1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock and score at 4-1/4" and 8 5/8".
  • Punch a 2-1/2" Circle in the center of the second score line (put it as far in as it will go).
  • Then decorate! The Designer Paper is 4" x 4". And I used the 2" Circle Punch and 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch for the owl and bird.
  • The flap tucks into a Banner Punch. Make sure to put the dimensional only on the bottom part of the banner so you can tuck the flap under.
Check out my VIDEO TUTORIAL for the Flap Fold Card here.

I used the Old Olive Blendabilities to color Frankenstein on this clean and simple card. I love the graphic look to the Chevron punch on the sides!

Lastly, I decorated these "Milk Bottles" (from the "Dollar Spot"!) using the Motley Monsters Designer Paper and more of the Freaky Friends goblins. I love the Motley Monsters Designer Paper more than I thought I would. There are many non Halloween designs that are versatile enough to use any time of year!

Control Freaks Blog Tour: Flat & Fabulous

It's time for another Control Freaks Blog Tour! Whether you're coming from Melissa Davies' Rubberfanastic's blog or just arriving -- welcome!! I'm so excited about this month's theme! We're focusing on "Simple & Elegant" or "Flat & Fabulous"! This is my kind of card! Quick and clean!

A couple years ago, I was mailing some packages at the post office and handed the clerk some cards that were stamped and ready to mail. Of course, he felt them out and decided that because of the little bump, I needed extra postage. He told me I had to mail it as a parcel! I argued that it was "just a card". But he insisted that it wasn't just a card because of the bump. I said it was a card with ribbon. He said it was a a card AND ribbon. Needless to say, I walked away with the card in hand. I wasn't going to pay a parcel rate to mail it!

The machines that handle our letters and cards are not gentle! Unless you pay extra for a non-machinable card to be hand-cancelled, your cards really should be FLAT. Even a brad or a rhinestone will tear through the envelope. So here are some FLAT but fabulous card ideas that will make your post master happy!

For a "Flat & Fabulous" cards, I love the Whisper White Notecards & Envelopes (#131527). I dressed up the envelopes with some designer series paper cut with the Envelope Liner Framelits (#132172).
The cards themselves are pretty simple. I punched shapes from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (#133787) out of Whisper White cardstock and then punched the 1" Square Punch (#124094) around it. I did use some Stampin' Dimensionals to pop each square off of the colored Postage Punch, but that will squish through the postage machines okay. I stamped the greetings in coordinating colors: Blackberry Bliss, Tangelo Twist, and Honey Hello. I love the new Giggle Greetings stamp set. It will be available to hostesses this fall, so watch for details to find out how you can earn this exclusive set for free when it's released!

The set of notecards would make a cute gift packaged up in the Polka Dot Gift Bags (#135503). I made up a quick tag using the punches and stamps from the notecards with the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit (#133629).

Here's another way to use the Polka Dot Gift Bag; I cut off the end and turned it into a flat and fabulous envelope! The card itself is very simple. I used the new Filigree Frame Embossing Folder (coming soon in the Holiday Catalog) and then stamped the Feel Goods greeting (#129684) in Hello Honey before adhering the Whisper White card to the Hello Honey card base.
