March 2016 Paper Pumpkin: 4 Pocketful of Cheer Alternative Projects

The March Paper Pumpkin kit is so cute! I absolutely love the colors! And the designs are perfect for giving gift cards. Here are the original designs. Watch the video.

If you know me, you know that I love the challenge of using the pieces to create something different. And that's just what I did this month! So far, I've had two boxes and two cards. Check it out:

  

I used the Hamburger Box die to create this simple gift box. This is a fun die! If you don't have it yet, make sure to check out the Weekly Deals. It's on sale for 25% until Monday, April 4, 2016.

Do want fries with that? What goes best with a hamburger box? A fry box of course! I love this box because it's super simple to assemble. I ran the paper through the die to get the line sized just right.

This card was the first project I created with the kit. After I punched out all the die cuts, I thought it would be fun to use the negative piece, so I cut it down and added some cardstock behind it to stamp on. The background is the splatter cardstock that I cut apart from the full card. The measurement is 3-3/4" x 5".

 

For the next card, I cut the kraft pocket in half and used it as a banner. This card is clean and simple. I didn't take a picture of it, but I added a pocket on the inside for a gift card.

As Seen on TV: Video Tutorial for Spring Basket

I had the pleasure of filming a Creative Corner segment that will air on ciLiving today. (For those of you who live outside of Central Illinois (ci), ciLiving is our CBS affiliate afternoon talk show that shares human interest and community stories.) I demonstrated how to make cardstock baskets that would be perfect for spring gift-giving. Whether you make them for Easter or table favors for a Mother's Day tea, these cute little baskets are sure to be a hit!

 You can also learn how to make this basket by watching the video tutorial I created at home:
Directions:

1. Score a 6" x 6" piece of cardstock at 2" and 4". Rotate the cardstock and score again at 2" x and 4".
2. Cut both score lines up to the perpendicular score line on opposite sides.
3. Fold on all score lines.
4. Decorate with 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" Designer Paper squares in each corner.
5. Fold the sides of the basket up and secure one end of the 1/2" x 11" handle with the Handheld Stapler. Do the same on the other side.
6. Cover the staple with ribbon or other embellishment.
