Stampin' Up! catalogs include hundreds of project ideas to inspire your creativity and papercrafting. I love looking to the catalog for card ideas. Sometimes I copy these ideas exactly and something I make changes. We call this CASEing. CASE stands for Copy And Share Everything -- or I prefer -- Copy And Selectively Edit.
For last week's Thursday Night Stamp Therapy, I flagged three different ideas from the catalog to CASE. Mostly, I focused on card layouts (although you can also be inspired by technique and color combination). Here are the card that I made.
Here is the original project inspiration from page 73 of the Jul-Dec 2022 Mini Catalog. I changed up the colors, but kept everything else the same.
Here are the card measurements I used for my version of the Christmas Lights card:
- 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Evening Evergreen Cardstock, scored at 4-1/4"
- 3-3/4" x 4-1/2" Lights Aglow Designer Paper
- 3-3/4" x 4-1/2" Gold Foil Cardstock
- 2-3/4" x 4-1/2" Evening Evergreen Cardstock (to die cut)
- Merry Christmas is from Santa Express Memories & More Pack
When I CASEd the Perched in a Tree card, I kept everything the same except the cardstock I used for the sentiment. I changed from Crumb Cake to Smoky Slate.
Here is the original card from page 46 of the July-December 2022 Mini Catalog.
- 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Thick Basic White Cardstock, scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" Basic White Cardstock
- 4" x 5-1/4" Splendid Day Designer Paper
- 1-1/8" x 3" Smoky Slate Cardstock
- 2-3/4" x 4" Distressed Gold Paper (to die cut)
- 2-3/4" x 4" Pool Party Cardstock (to die cut)
This last card might be my favorite! I used the Soft Seedlings stamp set to CASE the Apple Harvest card on page 54. To get multiple colors on the leaf images, I inked it in Pumpkin Pie and then "rolled" the inked stamp over the Cajun Craze ink. (Watch the video below to see this technique in action!)
Here is the original card. I used an embossing folder instead of stamping the image tone-on-tone for the background piece.
I had to guess on the measurements when I CASEd this layout. Here are the cardstock pieces I used:
- 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Pumpkin Pie Cardstock, scored at 4-1/4"
- 2" x 4-1/2" Designer Paper
- 3-1/4" x 4" Pale Papaya Cardstock, embossed
- 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" Circle
- 5/8" x 1-1/2" Pumpkin Pie Cardstock

If you like to "CASE the Catalog" too, be sure to save a copy of the Stampin' Up! Catalog Project Supply List so you can look up which supplies the Stampin' Up! Concept Artists used to create the projects in the July-December 2022 Mini Catalog.
