His and Hers Double Z Fold Cards + VIDEO Tutorial

Last week, I shared a free online class and showed you some basic card-making folds, including two fun folds: Gate Folds and Z Folds. Many other fun fold cards start with a basic fold and build from it. Here is one example. The Double Z Fold Card combines two pieces of cardstock that are scored in a similar way.

Double Z Fold Measurements:

• 4-1/4" x 11" card base, scored at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2"
• 1-1/4" x 11" cardstock (front piece), scored at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2"
• 4" x 5-1/4" Whisper White Cardstock (inside)

VIDEO: Bonanza Buddies Pop Through Accordion Card Tutorial

My favorite suite in the January-June Mini Catalog is Birthday Bonanza. I love the bright colors in the designer paper and the cute critters. I'm so disappointed that the entire suite is retiring in two weeks! That means there is only two weeks left to get the bundle and designer paper before it's gone! 

I designed this Pop-Through Accordion Card for my April Stamp of the Month Club. I try to feature a different fun fold each month. The focal point on this card pops through the window in the front of the card and is attached to an accordion pop-up inside.

Here is the front of the card when it's closed. (Tip: Make sure to stamp the card front before you assemble it and add the inside accordion piece!)

Measurements:

• 8 ½” x 5 ½” Mango Melody cardstock
• 5” x 6” Whisper White cardstock, scored at 2” and 4”
• 2 ¼” x 2 ¼” Whisper White cardstock
• 3” x 3” Terracotta Tile cardstock
• 2 ¾” x 4 ¼” Whisper White cardstock (to stamp and die cut)
• (2) ½” x 2” Whisper White cardstock, scored at 1”

VIDEO: Timeless Tropical Birthday Card CASE

I love the simplicity of this card in it's layout, but there are a couple tricks to making it! If you look closely, you'll see that the trees are not completely die cut! And the Label Me Lovely punched tag is a little different than the original punch shape!

I CASEd this card from the January-June 2020 Mini Catalog. If you love the look of the Tropical Oasis designer paper, make sure to get it before it retires! The trinkets have already sold out!

3 Cards, 1 Layout: Featuring Let It Ride, Peaceful Poppies, Ornate Garden

Once or twice a month, I give my team a card layout challenge on Facebook. I love creating card designs with layout inspiration as a starting point because it helps me focus my creative energy on choosing which stamp sets, colors, and embellishments to use. Here are three cards that I made with the challenge layout.

I started with the retiring Let it Ride stamp set. I haven't used this stamp set very much, so I thought it needed some love! If you know someone who loves horses, you definitely need to get it before it goes away at the end of the month!

2-1/4" Circle Punch

For my next card, I wanted to create a card with black and white and a "pop" of color. I struggled with whether or not this Poppy Parade card base was more than just a "pop". What do you think? I used Peaceful Poppies Elements for the focus point. These die cuts make it so easy to make quick and simple cards. I stamped the flowers on Whisper White cardstock for the background piece.

For the last card, I used some brand new products -- the Ornate Garden Designer Paper and Ornate Style Dies. I love the daisies in the paper, so I made my own with the Large Daisy Punch. I am so sad the 1/2" Circle Punch (used for the flower center) and Leaf Punch are retiring. Unfortunately, the Leaf Punch has already sold out in the United States. It was one of my favorites!
