Window Box: St. Patrick's Day Pot of Gold

Happy St. Patrick's Day! It's been a busy week here! Yesterday was the first day of Spring Break for my kids and I had Parent Teacher Conferences for my little ones. I never go to a Parent Teacher Conference empty-handed, so the girls helped me make these little treats to give to their teachers.

We used one die cut from the Window Box thinlit to create the box. I'm preparing for a big class this weekend, so I don't have time to do a video today, but I promise I'll post one next week. I have a couple other project ideas with this half box idea. If you can't wait, then check out this video to learn where to cut the die cut and how to assemble the half box.

Back to school means new teachers to spoil! Today, I did a Creative Corner segment on ciLiving to share this 2-4-6 gift box for our new teachers. (For those of you who live outside of Central Illinois (ci), ciLiving is our CBS affiliate afternoon talk show that shares human interest and community stories.)

The 2-4-6 box is super easy to make plus it reminds me of that old cheer "2-4-6-8 who do we appreciate?" And we definitely appreciate our teachers!

You'll need a half sheet of cardstock (5-1/2" x 8-1/2") to make this box. This box is easy enough to make up just a few or a whole lot for small gifts or party favors. It would be perfect for a wedding, baby shower, birthday party, or holiday. My favorite part is the coordinating designer paper (1" x 3" wrap around the chocolate nuggets to go inside the box.

Directions:
  1. Using the Scoring Blade on your Stampin' Trimmer, score the cardstock at 2”, 4”, 6”, and 8”.
  2. Turn the cardstock lengthwise and score once more at 2".
  3. Cut the score lines on the shorter end up to the 2" score line you made in step 1. These flaps will become the bottom of your container. (You can completely cut off the small flap on the end.)
  4. Put Tear & Tape adhesive on the side flap and 3 of the 4 bottom flaps and assemble the box.

Teacher Appreciation Handmade Gift Tags

It's the last week of school for my kids and I always love to show appreciation to our kids' teachers with gifts. Teacher Appreciation Week was the first week or May and we had a small gift for each teacher every day. Here are a couple of the gifts we gave them:

Reusable water bottle with lemonade packets. The back of the tag said "Your quench my thirst for knowledge!"

Heavy duty magnet clips with rocket (our school mascot) foam craft kit. I did two layers for each tag so the stars would show up with the white tag behind it. The back of the tag said: "You're Out of the this World AMAZING!"

I didn't take a picture of our gift for the last day of school. It's a beach towel and a bottle of sunscreen with a gift tag (with the Sunburst die cut) that says "Have a COOL summer!" These gifts seem like such small gestures, but I hope they can help convey our love and appreciation for all that they've done for our students throughout the year!

5 Days of Teacher Appreciation Gifts

Last week was Teacher Appreciation Week and I wanted to show our teachers how much we truly appreciate everything they do for our kids. Knowing how much I love receiving pillow gifts each night on incentive trips, I decided to do a small gift each day for the teachers.

Monday kind of snuck up on me. I had purchased some chocolate covered pretzels after Easter, so I stamped a simple tag with the Painted Petals set to dress it up. The sentiment "You're Amazingly Amazing" was perfect for this occasion!

Tuesday was a splurge day. I bought arrangements of fresh flowers for each teacher to enjoy on their desk all week. No stamping this time. The flowers spoke for themselves. But I forgot to snap a picture!
Wednesday we gave them reusable water bottles and powder lemonade mix. The tag was easy! I made an extra long with the Tag Topper Punch and then folded it over to create a pocket. I secured the pocket corners with Glue Dots. I covered the bottle tag with the lemonade pocket using a clothespin to hold it.

Thursday, I created a cute tag with the Banner Banter stamp set to dress up a stack of notepads for each teacher. I purchased the notepads after Christmas. they were packaged to look like a stack of gifts, but the colors aren't too Christmasy, so I thought they would work for any occasion. Real Red and Coastal Cabana were perfect color matches!

Friday's gift was all about the kids! They each painted a mini canvas with a unique design and personally wrote a note of appreciation in a notecard for their teacher. I used the Work of Art stamp set to stamp these quick notecards. They didn't turn out exactly as I had hoped, but I loved how the sentiment coordinated with the gift: "You are a fabulous work of art".
