Teacher Appreciation Handmade Gift Tags

It's the last week of school for my kids and I always love to show appreciation to our kids' teachers with gifts. Teacher Appreciation Week was the first week or May and we had a small gift for each teacher every day. Here are a couple of the gifts we gave them:

Reusable water bottle with lemonade packets. The back of the tag said "Your quench my thirst for knowledge!"

I didn't take a picture of our gift for the last day of school. It's a beach towel and a bottle of sunscreen with a gift tag (with the Sunburst die cut) that says "Have a COOL summer!" These gifts seem like such small gestures, but I hope they can help convey our love and appreciation for all that they've done for our students throughout the year!

"Hello Spring" Sampler Frame Class

My upline Kim Peck is visiting from California for a couple weeks and we've planned a class together. We designed a new sampler frame with a spring theme. I absolutely LOVE the way that it turned out!!

If you live in Central Illinois, come join us on Monday, February 22 at 7:00 pm in my home in Champaign. (Click here to RSVP.) We'll create 9 different sampler squares using stamps, ink, and paper. You can frame them as shown (background cardstock is provided) or use the squares on notecards or scrapbook pages. (Note: the squares are 2" x 2" layered on to 2-1/4" x 2-1/4".)

All pieces will be pre-cut and ready for you to stamp and assemble. Some adhesive will be provided, but please plan to bring your favorite adhesive for your personal use.

The class fee is $30 and includes project materials plus an entire package of Rhinestone Jewels ($5 value) and 2015-2017 In Color Blossom Accents ($8 value) for you to use during the class. You will keep the leftover embellishments.

Please note: The 8" x 8" frame is NOT included in the class fee, but a limited number will be available at the class at our cost ($5).

Pictogram Punches Valentine Card for GDP020

I took a little creative break yesterday to create a card inspired by the latest Global Design Project challenge. Good thing I double-checked the deadline because if I had waited till tomorrow to post, I would have missed it! I think I have an hour to spare!

This week, the Global Design Project Challenge theme was "CASE the Designer". It was fun to take copy the ideas from a card and make it my own. I tried to incorporate as many elements from the inspiration card as I could. Leave me a comment and let me know how you think I did!

CASEd elements: Black and White stripes, small gold hearts, large gold heart, small red glitter heart, "I {heart} U" sentiment, thread/twine on either side of the heart.

Control Freaks Blog Tour: Valentine Sampler + Sky is the Limit Card

It's time for another Control Freaks Blog Tour! Whether you came from Melissa Davies' Rubberfanatics blog or you're just arriving -- welcome!! I am excited to be a stop on your inspiration journey this month. Our theme this month is "Love is the in Air".

I used the limited-edition Sky is the Limit stamp set (Wood-Mount Rubber #141282 or Clear-Mount Rubber #141349) for my first project, a valentine card. You can earn this stamp set for free when you order $50 or more during Sale-a-bration. It's hard to see in this picture, but I stamped three clouds in Blushing Bride ink around the greeting.

I absolutely love the way this next project turned out. I got a request for a private class. The hostess wanted to create a Valentine Sampler and this is what I came up with! I designed the sampler using pieces from the 140551 Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit, which I am including in the class fee. The finished size is 8" x 8".

The squares are 2" x 2" layered on to 2-1/4" x 2-1/4" pieces of Rose Red, Blushing Bride, or Whisper White cardstock. Here's a close-up of some of the squares so you can see the detail. I used the Gold Wink of Stella on the small wooden heart.

TIP: To line up the squares perfectly on the 8" x 8" base cardstock, create a template with a piece of cardboard. Cut a square out of the middle. I cut mine so the outside border is 1/2" on each side. Then use mini clothespins to hold the template to your cardstock. Start by gluing down the squares in each corner and then center the sides in between.
