December 2020 Beary Comforting Paper Pumpkin Projects + Video

December 2020 Beary Comforting Paper Pumpkin Projects + Video ~ www.juliedavison.com #stampinup #paperpumpkin

Paper Pumpkin is a monthly project kit subscription that offers a wide variety of unique papercrafting projects for crafters of any skill level!

December’s cute and cuddly Paper Pumpkin kit—called “Beary Comforting”—is designed to uplift your loved ones as this beary tough year finally comes to a close. After a year like 2020, we all could use a big bear hug! With the help of this bear-themed kit, you can create 12 unbearably cute cards featuring warm and fuzzy friends, sweet stamps, and meaningful messages. Near or far, send your friends and family the extra comfort, love, and encouragement they need with this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit!
Even though the projects are professionally designed and ready to complete, I always love the challenge of using the kit pieces in different ways to create alternative projects. Here's what I came up with the December 2020 Beary Comforting kit.

Don't like the cute critters? Here's a card that uses just the "accessory" image:

Since I made a card with just the cupcake, I created a new accessory for this red panda card. I used the Balloon Builder Punch and tied them up with Whisper White Baker's Twine.

I try to use mostly the pieces from the kit, adding only minimal cardstock for the card bases. One way that I extend the kit materials to to cut apart the envelopes to use the "liner" as pattern paper.

Which color variation of this card layout do you prefer? Daffodil Delight or Soft Sea Foam?

When I ran out of die cuts, I stamped more bears and colored them with Stampin' Blends to match the die cuts. I used Ivory, Light Rococo Rose, and Light/Dark Cinnamon Cider Stampin' Blends. The stamped bear is slightly smaller than the die cut bears. Here is the finished card:

August 2016 Paper Pumpkin Bold Botanical Bonus Project Ideas

August 2016 Paper Pumpkin Bold Botanical Bonus Project Ideas #paperpumpkin #stampinup www.juliedavison.com
I love project kits! They are perfect for new crafters and busy crafters. People who don't have a lot of space for craft supplies. People who just want to sit down and craft and don't want to do the work of designing and cutting materials. Paper Pumpkin is like a class in a box. Delivered to your mailbox each month.

If you've been following me for awhile, you know I like the challenge for using my Paper Pumpkin kit to create alternative projects. I love the elements in the August 2016 Bold Botanicals. I actually made one of each project as designed and then I used the leftover pieces to make my own card designs.

Check out my alternative card projects below. I added some cardstock (Bermuda Bay, Cajun Craze, and Early Espresso) and a few accessories, but I tried to re-purpose the pieces from the kit.

Additional Supplies: 3-3/4" x 3-3/4" Early Espresso cardstock and 4-1/4" x 11" Bermuda Bay cardstock. I cut the squares down to 1-1/2" each and trimmed the banner (I stamped on the back side in Calypso Coral & Early Espresso inks).

Additional Supplies: 4-1/4" x 11" Cajun Craze cardstock. I trimmed the Mint Macaron card down to a 2" x 4-3/4" piece. I also trimmed the flower notecard down.

Additional Supplies: 4-1/4" x 11" Bermuda Bay cardstock. I trimmed the Kraft cardstock down to 2" and punched one end with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. I cut pieces of designer paper from the notecard and pocket in the kit. I combined the "Thanks" and "For You" greeting to create "Thank You" by carefully inking the stamps to omit the unwanted letters.

Additional Supplies: 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" Cajun Craze cardstock. I trimmed the notecard down to 3-1/2" x 4-3/4" and cut banner tips into the Cajun Craze cardstock strip included in the kit.

Makeover Monday: July 2016 What a Gem Paper Pumpkin Alternative Projects

3 Alternative Projects for July 2016 What a Gem Paper Pumpkin Kit #paperpumpkin #stampinup www.juliedavison.com
It's Makeover Monday! Today I am sharing three projects that I created with the July 2016 What a Gem Paper Pumpkin kit. To be honest, I didn't care much for the original kit (8 gem-shaped boxes with tassels and tags), but one of the things I love about Paper Pumpkin is the opportunity to use the materials to create other projects. I still have a few ideas in my head -- like a Christmas ornament -- and I'll probably use the leftover boxes for back-to-school treats for our teachers.

Check out my alternative card projects below. I added some cardstock (Emerald Envy, Very Vanilla, Real Red, and Elegant Eggplant) and a few accessories, but I tried to re-purpose the pieces from the kit.

For this first card, I simply cut apart a small box and use the sides to create a border along the edge of the card.

For this Christmas card, I cut apart the large box and used a Sponge Dauber to color it with Emerald Envy ink. The ornaments are from the Brights Enamel Shapes.

This last card was actually the first that I made and my favorite. I used the 1" Circle Punch to punch from the large gem box. I stamped the image and sentiment with Versamark and used the new Copper Embossing Powder to coordinate with the copper accents on the box pieces.
